i have a 1967 camaro it went a little in the wrong direction i originally wanted a a 600-700 hp daily ( more like weekends) with a nice stance and some 18" wheels ended up with a 1000 hp street strip car that really doesnt get drivin.. heres my question should i a
1. pull the engine/tran/hood/spool/wheel and sell them to fund what i really want or
2.sell or trade for something close to what i want

specs on car now
1967 camaro clean body
chromemoly cage tig welded
511 bbc with 15-1 compression
weld draglites
6in cowl hood

some pics i have

Sell your stuff and start over. That way you'll know exactly what's in the car and it feels better knowing you did it instead of somebody else.

If you still like the car and it is in good shape (the body), sell the drag stuff ad go another direction with the car.

I changed my drag car into a Pro-Touring car a little at a time. The car is fun to drive now!

At least you know what you have with your sheetmetal. If you sell and buy another car, you won't know what you are getting.

Look to Bad Penny for inspiration. She started out as a strip car.

ill pass on the mustang not really a ford guy ...i found a set of new camaro wheel(2010 ss) 20" that i was think n of replace n the welds with and maybe a fuel injected small block with that t88 on it should haul pretty nicely.. drove my uncles grand national today it was so nice to just turn the key and drive away ...

Option 1, sell the drivetrain, and get an LS-series, T56 setup, a nice 3 link rear end.
I love the pull of a BBC, but they make the car nose-heavy.

You're way ahead of the game by simply having the car and knowing the history of the sheetmetal. Don't sell the car. Sell the drag stuff to fund the daily driver stuff.

And who says Pro-Touring cars can't be powered by a big block? :)

Looks like a streetfighter in the making!

Keep the BB, swap the spool, fix the suspension, and drive it like you stole it!

The first thing I'd do is get that motor or another motor running on pump gas.

OK so you have an engine you can drive about 100 miles then refill tank.
So option one, pull engine/trans and sell, pm me a phone number my buddy is gonna pull his big block that has internal issues and he may be interested, heck he talking a Musi/Pace bbc so its not like he cant pay cause one he is looking at is $12K.
go to www.car-parts.com and punch in for a 6.0l and a T56 or a 4l60e or 4l80e, give west coast differentials a call, order up a new center section and install kit(ie put in a limited slip), pick up a set of decent wheels, stockers in fbody/Vette ones will get you driving (http://www.finishlinewheels.com/specials/1,CHEVY+CORVETTE/) figure $600-$800 gets you big wheels, the 10 Camaro wheels will be a pain to fit.
On the cage if it has door bars simply buy hinges and swing out latches and tada thats fixed.
You should be able to get the car into LSx/auto or manual, cheaper wheels, fix the gearing issue and not have to be out of pocket a ton because of the good engine.
Second is if its aluminum headed bbc simply give www.ohiocrank.com a call and buy a new lower compression rotating assembly , sell rest of it, think of it a 500hp bbc then add twin turbos, wow, fun +1!
If its handling you want, a Street Challenge kit with Air Bar, shockwaves, strongarms, good steering box from Lee manufacturing.
I would say you should be able to get $8k+ from a 1000hp bbc so there is big chunk of working capital.
Big brakes can be had from a C5/C6 Vette and Kore3 adapters.
So easy to fix that problem.

Nothing wrong with a PT Camaro with a BBC. I would look into dropping the compression ratio to somewhere around 10:1 and running a street worthy cam.

I am now running a solid roller in my 496 / T56 combo and it runs great. My idle is at 700rpm and is very comfortable to drive on the street.

i like the grut of the bbc but i just want some boost...lol

guys at work are talkin me into e85 on my sbc turbo im gonna build ...

all the race stuff is offically for sale now.. i have my lil m dart block ..

511 bbc
complete from carb to pan 8k
maybe 400th with rev valve body and brake

welds with slicks

not try n to break any rules i havent posted enough to sell on the marketplace yet but its going to a good cause... thank you pro-touring..

1000hp N/A (?!?) and you want to get rid of it? Pull the pistons and have the mountains cut down to hills, and swap in a smaller cam. I've got a "spare" 480 BBC with 900hp (injected on alcohol) that I keep glancing at with the same thought...

The chassis is an easy switch...

1000 was with the 150 shot of n.o.s direct port.. but ya i get what ur say n but the engine is such a nice piece the way it is it almost be a shame to change it up .. when it could be jus what someone else wants ...

Keep the engine, detune it (street manners) and dress it (bling), rework your suspension (handling )and interior (creature comforts, ergonomics)...You can enjoy power comfort and handling together...

This Pro Touring second Gen will have over 1500hp of SBC and twin Prochargers and it's a blast to drive around EVO's, Porsche's and Scoobies on twisty UK roads..

Don't go racing it against that GTO either. I made my mates GTO blow up with my pontiac 400, a mild cam and some headers  (will have to show him this thread, just for a response.)

That camaro will be cool. Shame you're down in london - wouldn't mind seeing it.
