Stretched & lengthened 95 Monte on a 95 F body floor pan & frame. Aluminum 406 small block with an LT1 injection system, trick flow heads, 6 speed manual trans, Vette brakes, 335 width rear tires
I would love to build one of them. Maybe with the newer body style Monte.

i think of that car every time i see a 95-99 Monte Carlo.
i remember when that issue came out. i showed it to a guy at work, and he said that GM was going to mass produce that car exactly like that, otherwise they never would have built that concept car.
he also said the same thing about that badass Camaro that they built around that same time with the aluminum big block with the LT1 distributor setup on it...
GM sure built some cool concept cars in the mid 90's..

I have always had a soft spot for Monte's. I would love to see the current version with a rear wheel drive platform. I think they still look nice even though they've been out for about a decade.

I saw that car 'in person' at a Super Chevy Show a few years ago. They even took it down the dragstrip. Awesome!

GM didn't actually build that car or the black Camaro, a company named Wheel to Wheel built them under contract from GM. I've been there several times and they always had some wild stuff they were building for GM. Sadly they went under when the owner fell ill with luekemia and died.

GM used to build all kinds of one-off cars; hot rod did an article way back about all these projects sitting in storage (I liked the caprice w/ the BMW V12; built just to research drive by wire systems!)
but they still are only going to produce what they can sell lots and lots of. and there just isn't a market for a bunch of 2 door V8 coupes anymore (in spite of what everyone on boards such as this one believe, we are not in the majority)

That was/is a cool car.
I would like to see a similar car built from a mid 90's Cutlass 2dr!
I had a 94. I liked that car (loved how it looked - not so fond of auto/FWD). If it had RWD, a manual trans, and a V-8 it would be my all time favorite!
On my 02 Z28 it is the other way around. I love the LS1/T56 but like (don't love) the styling.
I wish I had the fab skills to pull off a 4th gen F-body/90s cutlass hybrid!

Dale's personal rear drive Monte? Not heard of such a thing, what's the scoop on it? You talking about the red one with the tricked out V6?

You talking about this one:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
I'm pretty sure it was still front wheel drive & wasn't Dale's personal Monte.
Or this one:

That one was build by a owner of a body shop in Illinois (I think), not Dale's personal car.

I was working at Chevrolet at the time the monte was running around. When it came into the parking lot, it literally shook the windows! Man I still remember it like it was yesterday.
