Has anyone installed their coil behind the firewall with a pass thru to distributor? If so, did you experience any downside issues?

I have. I mounted the coil using vibration resistance mounts (rubber) to the cowl (wiper linkage area) in my '66 GTO. I used the MSD bulkhead pass-thru on the firewall, and made 2 coil wires. One from the coil to the bulkhead and one from the engine side of the bulkhead to the distributor. I haven't run the car that much yet, but both in practical experience as well as having talked to MSD - no issues whatsoever. My ignition is already in my glove box, which makes it even easier.

I did all all igniton components bolted to a single panel
behind glove box door on my last 2nd gen Camaro.
It worked fine.

Did anyone have trouble with a stereo installed? I would think that ignition noise would be an issue.

Stereo? In my car, I don't think you could tell. You can't hear the stereo with the car running anyway :)

Seriously, it could be an issue. I'm running shielded cabling from the MSD 6AL2 to the distributor. I'm also using a Secret Audio mounted in the back of the car. So, can't tell from my perspective.

I have my Msd box and coil mounted mounted behind the glove box also. Anytime you can keep your ignition box and coil cool thats a good thing.:)

Do you have a stereo, nav equipment or electronic gauges mounted in the dash? If so, does your coil cause any interference with this equipment?

I have all Autometer electric gauges in the dash. Zero issues from the coil or ignition.

Which plug wires are your running? My Autometer speedo is going nuts over what I believe is ignition interference.
