I guess time just stops for some people, find a decade you like and stick with it.

are you saying you wouldn't drive that car?
looks like a badass old school street machine to me.

I don't think he is stuck, pretty sure a blown 455 has plenty of torque so he is just dragging the past around.

I don't suppose there's any possible way someone might sell a car today that was built in the past.

Some of the pictures are from 6 years ago, and it looks like there was already plenty of mileage on the car at that time.

How cool would it be if you deleted the stripes, 2-tone interior, and chrome. Add a PT suspension and modern wheels/tires/brakes.

A PT car with a huge blower sticking out of the hood would be cool!

Aww man , have a little sympathy for the guy..
He's having to sell his baby...

It is a little dated though..

That just brought a tear to my eyes it brought me back to my high school days!!!!!

As I would not build anything remotly close to it's appearance but on it's time that car was bad ass.....The way some are looking this car now is how many will look at our buckets 20 years from now...

that innefficient blower and craptastic tires probably make for one hell of a white knuckle ride that would leave you wanting more.

lol some of you guys crack me up.

What's the difference between a '60's "Gasser" (straight axle, white headers, and a moon tank) and this car? It's all dated. That's what this hobby is all about. You wouldn't buy Falfa's '55, or Milner's '32?

I'm a designer, and I don't claim to be the best, but I do disagree with one of the all time greats...Mr. Chip Foose, I love Chip to death, he's my hero, but I disagree when he says his cars aren't dated...Sure they are. There's no such thing as a timeless look.

I find nothing wrong with the car you posted, I see cars like that all time...some of the problem is the price of Hot Rodding....to be trendy it take dollar signs, not everyone has them, so, they're stuck with what they built in the past.

I'm not saying I would buy it...but I will defend it. (Atleast get it tubbed) LOL

I think it's pretty cool. just another period built car or someone who built it and hasn't changed it since. not really my taste but cool none the less.

Just needs a front spoiler of some kind and a whale tail on the trunk!! I'm sure it already has the lights on the slapper bars!

the difference is how much time has passed. if you found a straight axle '55 in a barn, you would see the history of an old drag racer. same with a '32 hi-boy, cool stuff.
I guess I'm too old to see any nostalgia in an improperly thought out '75 trans am; it just reminds me of the stupid mods people did then, and some STILL do (there is a late 2nd gen camaro I see some mornings like this, all jacked up, tires sticking out, 5" cowl hood, loud as can be).
I KNOW we will laugh in the future at what will be done now (or recently, like the '80s neon and pastel monochrome fetish). I think we will see how silly 20" and larger wheels are.
hopefully I'll live long enough to think this T/A is cool...

I couldn't agree more.

I don't see handling, braking and accelerating going out of style.
But 20" and plus rims make no sense. They are a fashion choice that will be made fun of big time down the road (IMHO).

Definitely not my style. I especially despise Keystone Classic wheels. That being said, I've always been a "drive and let drive" kind of guy. I have had lots of people tell me that I have "ruined" my car, but I like it so who cares? I see things all the time that I wouldn't do to a car in a million years, but I won't tell the owner. For instance I don't like 18"/20" wheel combos on a muscle car (or 20's at all). I think they look out of proportion, but a ton of people are running them. That doesn't mean anybody's right or wrong, it's just not my cup of tea. Besides if everyone built their cars the same it would be pretty boring.
Pro Touring builds are still in the minority here in the Northwest. That's why I'm on this site, because it is where all of us loons can swap ideas and admire other peoples cars.
I don't think pro touring will end up looking quite as dated as some of the trends because the bodies are mostly stock looking. I saw an old widebody IMSA Monza a while back. Talk about dated looking. It was also cool as Hell.
Also, I don't know how much power the Trans Am makes with it's "inefficient" blower, but I'll bet it's a Hell of a lot more than it would make without it. :)
Okay, I'm off the soapbox now. Next. :)

It is kind of a cool retro street machine. A product of the time just before Pro street took off.

I need to try to find some pics of a 74 Camaro that I had when I was 15. It was an old show car from the late 70's. I kinda wish I still had it.
Bright yellow with red, white and blue stripes across the top and down the doors to a point on the fender and around the L88 hood scoop (yeah baby!). Can't forget the fender flares, and of course a "whale tail" on the trunklid. We ain't stopping there, it of course had chrome slapper bars (with lights no less!) and red crushed velvet interior!

I sold it because I had always wanted a first gen, and I found my 69 for a decent price and my dad split the cost with me.

hopefully everyone sees I just posted the link to the T/A for fun. no hate, just funnin'!
anyway, what I always found odd about the 70s-80s was this was when Detroit was discovering 'handling'; the F41 suspension packages, rear sway bars, better brakes, etc. but yahoos would still take a Z/28 and jack it up w/ air shocks! you'll still find 3rd gens even all jacked up. I've seen guys go down to 15" wheels on a 3rd gen, I guess becasue the wheels they wanted didn't come in 16".
just fun to look at where we came from.

I bet that car was built in the early or mid 1980s. It's just how cars were built back then. Car style is no different than any other fashion. Look at jeans. In the 80s and early 90s we wore tapered jeans, then in the late 90s boot cut and more flared bottom jeans came back, as they were popular in the 70s. Now you see the hipsters going back to the tapered look. It's whatever...I hope he sells the car and gets what he wants for it. It a time capsule.

I use to have a jacked up Nova with tires sticking out past the fender wells and a wild paint job. Kept breaking lower shock brackets from the air shocks. Back in the 80s it was cool. Had a mullet hair cut, jammed to Foghat and use to partake in a little reefer.
