Have you ever bought something for your car that just worked, PERIOD! No fuss, no fighting, nothing, just did what it was supposed to do?
When I first built the charger, like everyone I just had to have a pistol grip, original looking shifter. To look in the car and see it, everyone loved the looks, but it was a POS! In fact, I have tried three different ones, getting to position and feel just right. However, between the rattles and lousy shift due to it being so bulky, I just could not stand driving it on another trip to another event. I contacted Steve at Twist Machine and ordered one of his shifter sticks.
MAN WHAT A FRICKING DIFFERENCE!
Going from a pistol type handle to the ball type is just unbelievable, honestly, I can not believe it is the same tranny. The new shifter is just the right height, comes with several shims, so I could taylor fit it to suit me, and is just a piece of art to look at. To me it fits the theme of the car and just works. Much easier to find 3rd gear now, and feels so good in the palm that you just can't wait to get to the next stop so you can row some more.
SO, if you need an upgrade on your shifter or just want a nice change in the way your car shifts, give TWIST a shot.
Thanks Steve, I should have listened to you months ago!

Bill...if you dont want the old Pistol Grips send them my way..... :)

I just bought a brand new one from Summit.....I can always send it back.....feels pretty good just sitting there in the car....I guess I'll have to see how it feels once the car is actually on the road

Wow! Thanks Bill. So may of us run trans swaps that move the shifter form the side of the trans to the top. When that happens, it seems like the stick ergonomics are never right. Most of our customers claim to have purchased three sticks before discovering our part.

The adjustable version ships with three inserts (only two are shown) that let you tweak the fore /aft orientation. The bottom line is that our adjustable shifter stick improves the ergonomics of your 5 or 6 speed hot rod. If your ergos are a little off, this product will make you shift better.

Your thread caught us in the middle of revising the design so that it accepts any shifter ball. If, however, you like the current gen sticks shown above, a few remain on the shelves of our dealers around the country. We can put you in touch with the right source.

Steve, will that work with a muncie? I have one laying around and will put it in to replace the PG! Will the new design accomodate a traditional round ball?

And we all know how important it is that our shifter feels good in the palm of our hand! LOL!

Those are really nice piece, I thought it was a new product contender when he invented it. One of those right in front of everyone and no one but Steve could see it things.

Hi Rick. Yes and Yes. Our sticks actually don't care about trans type as long as the shifter has a flat stub with two bolt hoes that re 7/8" apart. And yes, the new stick will accept traditional knobs. We will supply a 3/8" stud.

No, but they will be essentially the same, but with the ball chopped off.
