whos your insurance?? I live in ri classified as a hurricane state by the insurance people- after katrina 70% of the insurance companies refused to write policies in this area and those who would my insurance was going up from $466 to $2300- and then I called Allstate they wrote my policy for $477 and now my yearly premium is $523 and my property is worth double what it was. we had allstate auto insurance started checking around when my twin boys got their license two months ago. The difference from allstate 542.00 a month state farm 274 monthly had them check my homeowners while they were checking saved me almost 500 a year.

I think they just randomly jack your premiums for all those people that actually never look at their bills. I used to switch insurance companies about every 3-4 years because of this. I have had allstate for some time now and they have never tried that crap so I am still here.

Anyone looking at homeowners insurance READ YOUR POLICY carefully. LOOK FOR LOOPHOLES. I didn't, and when everything in my home was stolen and the house was destroyed inside. I wasn't covered for most of the loss. Been three years now with just a shell of a house, no kitchen, trim, carpets, appliances, paint etc. All the "experts" say walk away and let the bank take it.

Ours went up to. I called my insurance agent and asked her to shop my policy around. She told me if I was a AAA member that nobody could beat there prices. My house insurance went from $1200 a year to $595 a year. Same coverage. The cars went down about $200 a year. My mom used to work in insurance and said you should shop it around every year.
