Be aware that there are two sizes of radiator support bushings...I had to ream the holes oversize so that the "universal sized" bushings will fit my 70 camaro radiator support brackets.


edit: To BMR: Oversizing the holes is not a big deal, just letting you know that there were different sizes. There were instructions in a set that I purchased from another mfg that made a note of this fact, so I was aware of it up front. Not trying to knock your new product, because you may have taken this into consideration already. Hope this helps...not trying to be negative towards it in anyway.

Thanks for the insight. Do you know what years went to a different size and are you referring to second gen cars only? We used a customers '68, BMR's '69, and my '70 for testing but if they changed later we may need to update our application specs.

Really? It's funny what people will say when they really don't know anything about Delrin. I know a lot of old school guys think plastic is plastic but now we have things like plastic intake manifolds, plastic lifter guides, fenders, etc....plastic has come a long way.

Delrin works great for this application. It doesn't corrode like aluminum does plus it's practically as rigid as aluminum. It doesn't squeak like polyurethane or deteriorate like rubber does.

When I mounted alu. bushings from Dave/ PTFB I had to grind the holes bigger. My car is a -79.
Not a big issue, 10 minute job. Just make a note with your kit :-)

On my '68 Firebird, the radiator support bushings were shorter and smaller diameter. When I tried to update I got the one-size regardless of mounting location. They claimed they test fit them, and they fit fine on their car. And I could always ream out my holes.

I was a bit peeved by that response because
1. I have to cut good virgin metal because they can't make the parts correct? Don't think so. And
2. Still doesn't correct the height difference.
so I returned them.

I don't know how they're getting away with one diameter and height for all 6 bushings seeming to fit some cars and not others. Maybe it's a matter of how much rust has opened the radiator support hole.

If you're not going make them correctly, then you should have directly noted in the catalog before someone orders, that modifying your car is necessary for fitment. Not surprise them with a note in the instructions.

Just so it's clear to all, the front radiator support bushings are completely different than the rest of the bushings. Diameter, height, bolt size, etc. have been designed specifically for the radiator support. In the picture above, the radiator support bushings are the ones that are assembled.

And also to be clear, in case anyone misreads my earlier post, my problems I referenced were with a different manufacturer NOT BMR and their product. I was pointing out the issue to BMR in case they had based their kits on one that used the same mount for all locations.

I'm glad they've done their homework, and are building them correctly.

I can't see how anyone could possibly swap these up(speaking of the radiator support bushing vs the body bushings)...but I'm glad that they are thinking about providing clear instructions for their product.
