So many good tunes from that man. I was surprised he was in his 60's....

I'll never forget my teens/20's listening to 'the man on the silver mountain'.

RIP RJD

He was truly "The Last In Line"

I met Ronnie James Dio at the Omni in Atlanta during the Last in Line Tour .
He was a cool guy..
I remember that he was a lot shorter than me ( I'm 6'3" ), and I kept wondering how all that enormous vocal sound came from such a tiny guy..
It was nice to meet him and Vivian Campbell , and Jimmy Bain , and Vinnie Appice ..

yeah I really liked rainbow in the dark - that is what I remember him best for is the late 70;s days

so I wonder where he ended up based on his album title heaven or hell?

You never know where someone will end up in the afterlife ..
Only the supreme creator knows.

There wasn't anything negative or evil in the album "Heaven and Hell ".
It was mostly social satire/criticism and fantasy..
"Rainbow in the Dark" came out in 1983 on the "Holy Diver" album..
I think most of the "satanic bands" out there adopt the image for publicity.
It helps them sell music to dis-enchanted people who hate the world.

I've always like Metal Bands because they are great musicians.
I don't pay attention to the image.. It's all fake showmanship anyway..
I just want to hear them and watch them play..
Those guys are great..

Don't know, not for me to decide thankfully. But you will know what kind of tree it is by the fruit that it bears.
I wouldn't like to have his place in line by the fruits that have been shown!

agreed

I have pondered this a lot lately and what is important in life to exude as part of daily living. especially as I have aged.

Loved many of his songs... We don't know his heart... We know of one person recorded in history who was forgiven for his "fruits" on his last day...

RIP RJD

If you ever heard him interviewed, he was a very positive, upbeat guy. Rarely did I ever hear him say anything negative/mean.

You should listen to the music and decide for yourself. It was mostly about the struggle of good vs. evil, fantasy vs. reality. The content never preached or took a side, it just was.

Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker
So it's on and on and on, it's heaven and hell, oh well

The lover of lifes not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, heaven and hell
I can tell, fool, fool!

Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it's on and on, on and on and on....

They say that lifes a carousel
Spinning fast, youve got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well

And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
Its heaven and hell, oh no!
Fool, fool!

Youve got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!
Look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!

Personally, really like his stuff best when he was in Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore. What a duo they made, especially when Cozy Powell was on drums

Condolences to Wendy, Loretta (first wife) and Dan
