Ok I searched and have not been able to find a answer. I have a 69 chevelle that I ordered a front disc conversion kit for and is installed. For the rear I went with the 93-97 f-body discs and have those installed as well. Now my kit for the front did not include a new metering block. So my question is do I just replace that metering block with one for disc/disc application? Or will I need a proportioning valve for the rear and use the original metering block? Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

The metering valve controls how fast the fronts apply, and the proportioning valve controls how hard the rears apply. Metering valves are only used on disc/drum cars to compensate for the difference in bore size, and speed of action. Without either valve when you apply the brakes, the fronts would hit first, then the rears would lock up when they did come on. With your setup you don't need a metering valve, but you do need a prop valve. Your best bet is to plumb an adjustable prop valve in and set it up to match your car. Pretty easy, and fairly cheap. A factory prop valve might work, but chances of it being the correct one are minimal.
Cheers.

I just recently went through this on my '70 Chevelle. Found out exactly what CoryM said...you don't need a metering valve, but do need a prop valve. If you give the guys at Inline Tube a call, they can proide you with a prop valve appropriate for a disc-disc setup.

Good luck!

I am currently converting from 4 wheel drum to 4 wheel discs (Baer). Baer recommended eliminating the metering valve, using a steel tee fitting for the fronts and plumbing in a proportioning valve for the rear brakes. The proportioning valve can be picked up at Summit/Jegs/etc. for arounf $40, personally I ordered the Baer prop valve with my brakes.

I used the Distribution block from Inlinetube.com for disc/disc application and it will proportion your brakes evenly. Unless your gonna be doing some serious racing the valve from inline will work just fine all though it is more expensive. It kinda retains the factory look.
