View Full Version : Inexpensive Wheel Options

I am looking for inexpensive wheels for my 1968 Bel Air Wagon(see project update).

So far my easiest and one of the more affordable options is the Coy C5's. For wheels and tires, I'd be looking at about $2000.

I am currently considering 18x9.5's or 20x8.5's for the front and 20x10's(5.75 bspc) for the rear. I could possible fit a 11" in the rear if I trimmed the fender lip.

And if I can afford a 12-inch wide rear, I'll consider the necessary wheel tub mods.

The only problem is the Coys, while they look great, are not quite as
modern looking as I'd like. I love a big lip but I also would like a modern wheel design. I love mesh wheels and I love simple 5 spoke wheels. Something more pro-touring and racy then the Coys.

I have investigated using a modern wheel(i.e. high positive offset) with wheel adapter/spacer(a high quality billet piece of course).
This would widen my wheel selection but narrow the lip on my wheels. I could use wheels meant for modern Corvette, Mustang, Camaro, etc.

What about the BMW(and now Honda) 5x120 pattern, anyone use those without issue?

Any direction you guys can give on what you have done for an inexpensive wheel option?

Thanks,
Brad

I should clarify, I do not want to spend more than $500 per rear wheel(basically rules out the $1K/wheel custom built stuff).
I'd like to have less than $2000 in all four wheels and tires.

Carter, Thanks,
I already sent a request to raceline but never got a response.
I love the flat black Jaded design.

have you checked out the summit legend 5 wheels?
Also available in full polish as well as the gunmetal. Check out the 360 veiw too. gives a good idea perspective of the wheel.

I use BMW wheels witout problem
E39 wheels nearly have the right backspace, I pnly added 20mm spacers on the back, the front is OK.
I also use hubcentric adaptersbecause the diameter is not the same, to be sure the wheel is centered.

in my opinion, on a strict budget, torque thrusts or oem style wheels are the most tasteful options. they suit the car very well.

Got Coy C5's on the way...

I got them in the matte black finish.

Fronts
18x8 4-inch bspc 245/40/18 Nitto Invos

Rears
20x10 5.5-inch bspc 295/35/20 Nitto Invo

Killer pricing.

I'll post up in my project thread when I get them on.

Probably because those are close out wheels and it's all they have left. Check out the other wheels not in the Special Buys area.
