The two best PS boxes out their are probably the DSE or Lee 600 series box. They will be an easy swap as all you will need to change is the pitman arm and install a power steeering pump. The box is going to run you $500 - $600, MOOG PS pitman arm is $85, PS pump is $100 - $200, and a hose kit is $150. Both are going to be a fast ratio box (12.7:1) and IMO give you the feel and response of a quality pro-touring ride.
If you are looking to stay on a tighter budget you go with an AGR or OEM box from a later GM car. Both of which get mixed reviews and since I have no direct experience with either I will let you decide based on the comments from others on this forum. These boxes will run you $300 or less.
I did not mention a PS rack and pinion but that is also an option. If you go that route I think everyone hear will say the Unisteer kit is the best for the stock subframe (it is still rear steer unlike most of the aftermarket subframe ones that go to front steer.) Last time I check you could get a Unisteer PS rack from Year One for ~$800.
Hope that give you a couple of ideas to research.

So power steering differs from rack and pinion steering? Do they both run off of the engine?

Steering boxes and rack and pinion set ups come in both manual and power steering. Power steering uses hydrualics to assist in the movement of the gear or rack that result in less force required by the driver to turn the steering wheel. The hydrualic pressure is generated in a power steering pump run off the accessory drive of the engine.
