I just installed the rear springs in my 73 chevelle. They are 2" lowering springs from OPGI. The car was supported by jackstands at 4 points under the frame. My concern is this: the stock springs required the shocks to be unbolted in order to install them, with the lowering springs, not only can the shocks be bolted in place, but the springs fall right out of the seat (top by about 2.5 inches) when i lower the jack off the rear and the suspension is at full travel... is this common with lowering springs (GM A-bodies)? and if so how am I supposed to put my car on a lift, when the springs will just come right out...I have no problem jacking it up from the rear and supporting the rear with jackstands... but something seems wrong... any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

My OPG 2" drop springs do the ssame thing on my '82 Monte Carlo. It seems like it should be ok as long as I don't go rock crawling. When my car is on the lift, I just lower it down until the tires are about to touch, move the springs into place and lower it slowly watching to make sure they don't fall out again.

Thanks for your help.... i guess its pretty common with rear lowering springs. The only solution i guess would be a shorter shock, a limiting cable on the rear axle or extenting the upper center guide.. probably see about the shocks...Thanks again
