Hey guys, just wondering what size wheel/tire with the right backspacing i can go without notching in the frame rails. Would like to have the biggest tire i can get under the car. Post up your wheel/tire combo!

Pics would also be great, would let me see how they would look under the car.

Thanks guys!

I have 17X8-4.5" backspacing (I think, maybe 4) front & 17X9.5 with 5" backspacing rear. 7/16" spacer on rears.

I see you mentioned rear is -1/4" offset, but you did not note for the front. Is it 0?

In the picture I was using 1.25 inch spacers on the front.
that would make the offset on the front, at the time, +12mm or 1/2".
@+12mm the wheels hit the upper control arms on the inside just a tad at full lock on the steering wheel.
I never tried it but +6mm or 1/4" offset on front, I think, would be perfect.

@ 0 offset I think they might rub on the outside.

I have 17x9.5 wheels with 4 3/4 inches of back spacing with 275/40 tires on a stock 1978 malibu lowered 2 inches. This combo JUST fits my car that has had no fender trimming or frame cutting. I will say 4.75 backspacing is the maximum for a stock G-body!

Thanks fellas. I've been humming and hawing at installing some Camaro wheels I picked up from GMPP for cheap a while ago.
Just need to figure the correct spacer for my '87 Cutlass.

I have 17X8-4.5" backspacing front & 17X9.5 with 5" backspacing rear. 7/16" spacer on rears.
I have the same size wheel and offset. I run 5/16" spacers since that is what was available.
You can run 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 on that setup on the Monte.
A 4.75" backspace on the rear, if available, would be better.
The 4.5" bs on the front, lines-up the tire into a deeper area of the inner fenderwell on the Monte.
