I would really like to get my hands on a complete 2005 and up GTO donor car if at all possible. Since they come with a ls2 and t56 standard and all the fbodys I have seen around lately have been beat on to the point where they arent worth using. Also I like the look and feel of the GTO seats so I think I would end up using most of the car and part out the rest to recoupe some of the initial investment.

My question is where is a good place to start looking for a donor without going to dealer only auctions. I have heard of RideSafely and CoPart, but Im not sure if Copart is a scam or not. So has anyone had any experience with these companies or any others. Also I live in Connecticut and dont mind driving a couple of hours for the right vehicle. Thanks in advance for any input

Copart is the biggest salvage auction out there, at least in the midwest. But you have to have a salvage license or a rebuilders license. Also at a salvage auction you are going to pay more for the GTO because you are going against salvage yards that are looking how much they can sell this part for and how much for that. Plus the guys that want to rebuild it and make money that way. Not saying you CAN find a good deal at those auction but it may take some time and luck.

The is High Performance Salvage also, but that's kind of far from you.
Maybe if you know an insurance adjuster in a large company, they may have a totalled one sitting around before they go to a salvage yard, just maybe....
