Been wanting to do this forever. Dad moved closer to me so I bought this car in pretty good condition and we're just getting started. We have a pretty good starting point. Were currently doing the american autowire kit. Next step is front suspension and willwoods.

Sounds awesome Trent. My 8 year old boy watched the vid over my shoulder and thinks the Z06 is cool too...!
Nice garage space, btw. Perfect for building a Camaro!

We should hook up... I am about 30 minutes away in Sugar Land. Have a buddy in Katy that owns a modded 2010 Camaro, my brother has head/cam suspension 2000 SS, etc.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread but making progress. Sold the Z06, bought a ZR1, sold
that and bought a red car, more on that later......
In the process of building the interior. We're building the trunk, door panels, and a full length console to run through rear bucket seats. Building the center piece on the dash as well as installing a pretty nice sound system (Alpine, Focal and Audison). A lot of pictures and updates to come as we go to upholstery in the next few weeks and then paint, wheels are ordered and suspension, brakes, ac, motor, steering all done.
Here are a few pictures of the console, trunk and center dash piece.
The goal

The interior and trunk look great. What kind of material did you use to make the panels? 3/4" MDF? Thinking about doing something similar for my Firebird.
Texas68
12-09-2011, 05:04 AM
Their using MDF and fiberglass to make the molds. We made the dash piece to hold 2 round ac vents and the center console runs through the back bucket seats. Everything is being wrapped now and a few pieces are being painted to match exterior.

Sweet cars. I'm from Katy too, but Uncle Sam moved me to Hawaii 16 years ago. I still visit family there every year though, and I keep my Mustang at my Dad's house in Katy.

Nice looking Camaro! I love how the back is molded around the seats.... Let's hear more about this "red car" that inspired the sale of the ZR1? I'm wondering what the upgrade from that is.

I'm also curious about the red car and what happened with the original wheels on this beast? Looks great!!
Texas68
07-03-2012, 03:57 AM
I kept the red car for about a year and then traded it in when I had the opportunity to purchase a pretty cool Scuderia(pictured below). Funny thing is I'd get rid of every car I own before the '68.
