Am going to start pulling together the rest of the componenets for tunes. Have the latest and greatest Alpine head unit and amp--but a sub isn't in the plan yet---car needs other things first--like a new rear end, motor and trans, etc, however I am doing a lot of driving in the car and am ready for some tunes. Want to know the best 6 x 9's to have. From there i'll got to speakers for the front, and then add the sub. Want to buy right the first time, so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!!

I've always liked Infinity's speakers.

Unless you get into the exact specs of the speakers (frequency range, etc etc etc), it is all opinion vs pocket book.

Infinity or JBL are both great bargains. We just did a all JBL system and for a inexpensive system it rocked.

Doug,

You didn't specify "autocross approved" so be careful :)

I have Polk 6x9's in the rear and 6.5 in the doors. They sound great but I had to tune the highs down a bit which is a common thing I've heard about in the reviews. I've also tuned out the lows because I have a sub.

So far they are intact but I can't drive through turns ha ha

I'm very far from knowledgeable about audio equipment, but for my budget I've had good luck with Infinity.

If you can listen to some Boston Acoustics they are very nice as well, I personally hate MB quarts... but that is why you should go listen to some.

Thanks to everyone (except Todd :machine:) for the input. I took a listen to those mentioned and ended up with a pair of the newer infinity speakers----about 200 bucks, but they seem to sound the best. Fronts will be next and then the sub. Thanks again for the input---I think this is the first item I paid retail for--couldn't find anyone selling these newer series at a bargain---however they appear to be Auto X approved Chad---LOL.

i just did all infinity kappas in my truck it sounds great think a got 150 bucks in the components and rear speakers all together. bought it used off ebay. make sure you have a good amp pushing a 100 watts rms per channel though they like power.
