Hey guys just wondering what everyone has been using for springs and shocks on your g-body's. Looking around and wanted to see what else is out there.

It would be great if you could post up some pics just cause of the stance :1st:

5660's, 5413's (shimmed about 1"), Bilsteins (S10 2WD front). Keep in mind that in the side view pic the car is rolling a bit.

djm s10 drop spindles, moog problem solver LCA's, UB Machine tube UCA's for tall ball joint, stock lower, 1/2 ton truk upper (.5 inch taller, just like howes), 1 inch belltech s10 drop springs, bilstin blazer shocks.

and yes, its an s10. which has the exact same front suspension as a g-body. reason i replied is so that you could get another setup.

michael that looks like a pretty inexpensive setup, that works well...

it is. sits low, and with the 33mm front bar and fast ratio steering box, it works really well on the autocroos course and the open track days. it has a few HPDE's and about 10k street miles on it.

if you have any questions about the UB machine parts, let me know.

I'm running Eibach springs with QA1 single adjustable shocks.

I'm interested in reading more about the arms you're talking about. I doubt I'd be making the upgrades immediately, but I would like to take care of the bumpsteer issue on my '78 Malibu (sometime after I get it back together). Where would I find the info on the lower arms? I'm just now starting to look at UB Machine's site.

Oh, and mine is on a set of 1902 Hothckis springs. This one's being cannibalized to put parts on the '78.

the parts arent listed on UB machines site. i dont know why tony never listed them, but he didnt.

i worked in conjunction with UB macine to make these as a budgt alternative to the SC&C package. instead of adjustable control arms, we made fixed that will get you good alignment specs with a minimal amount of shims. used solid greasable bushings, and set it up to use an 82 C10 ball joint. this share the same taper as the stock, but is 1/2 inch taller and has a much larger mounting plate. the arms go for about 120 for the pair powdercoated. and i got the ballo joints for 20 ea from autozone.

theres more on the development in the drivabeater project thread, and a long discussion her: http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23595

theres a bunch of us s10 guys running them now, and we havent even really advertised them. just kind of a word of mouth thing.

I am also running the ub machine arms on my s10 with the c10 ball joints. It works great.

My s10 has the ub arms, new moog 5660 springs with 3/4 coil cut off, drop spindles, a zq8 front and rear sway bar, stock replacement s10 shocks, and a zq8 gear box. I am still planning on a tall lower bj also.

One thing to note, the tall upper ball joint does not help with bumpsteer, it's the lower ball joint that will help, and it's still not a 100% fix, but much better than stock.

Since the suspension will be apart on the '78 when we strip/paint the frame, I may go ahead & change it. I did a little looking for a PN for the lower ball joint but couldn't find one. Help a Pro-Touring buddy out? :D

G-body/S-10 tall lower ball joints are only stupid expensive, I think the best deal on them, IMHO, is QA1, monoball, rebuildable and interchangeable studs. You can e-mail them for the part numbers, but it's $50 for the whole thing, and $20 for replacement studs, best bet is to e-mail them.

Other options are Power Performance, good quality, fair price, 60-75 day backorder last I checked; Howe are really expensive, and the housing material they use is a bit soft IMHO, but they're common, and UB machine I know makes monoball lowers, so you may want to ask them about a tall lower, I should think they've got one.

Front 5660 w/Bil F4B-1307-HO
Rear 5409 w/Bil F4-B46-0929-HO

This is a pix with 5401s in the rear, too soft and too low. 5409s ride much better.

Although it does look good, functionally the 5401s were too soft for the coupe. It was fairly easy to bottom out the rear suspension over mild bumps with no passengers or load. 5401s are about the same rate as the stock 5379. But with the lowered install height it allows ease of crashing into the bumpstops.
