Heres my problem...I have the VWW 40's and keeping the centers clean are a pain in the A--! I've been thinking of either powder coating or painting the centers, I just can't decide on a color.

The car is white with black stripes. If I paint them I'm using Duplicolor paint, and have been looking at the following colors Graphite, Black Racing Satin, or the Silver paint.

Count my vote for Graphite or Black, either one would look great on a white car.

Matte Black for sure. Will really pull in the vinyl top and black stripes

I'm starting to lean towards black also, been searching for pics of white cars with black wheels but haven't found to many with that wheel. Found a lot with Rushforth and Forge wheels.

Thanks for the responses though.

I vote black, but I would get them powdercoated. I think paint would get messed up.

If it was me I'd go to a 9.5 rim in the rear and powder coat the middles charcoal black. A 5.5" backspace works well on my '69 and I think you can pull it off without rubbing on yours.

Matte black will look so good on there with your black stripes and roof. I think white is the new silver!

Thanks guys....and that is a 9.5 rim with the 5.5 b/s, I have a slight rub on right turns is all. Just doesn't look that way from that pic angle.

if you don't want to see the wheels then paint them black or buy steel wheels like the ricers do so you don't have to spend much money and leave the hubcaps off... ; ) I think it looks great the way it is now...

the difference in seeing your wheels or not... I personally like to see from a distance where my tire ends and my wheel begins..

I'm not doing the whole wheel, I just want the 5-spokes done. Right now the spokes are gray rough texture and they hold onto the brake dust and everything else. I'm keeping the polished lip and center flat cap.

What I would like is if anybody knows how, or knows of a good photoshop person is to have a set of black 5-spokes photoshopped on it. I've been trying to figure out how to do it, but guess what......I'm not a computer guy! I know how to surf the web to find stuff for my car, and then how to purchase that stuff.

that will help.. still will vote gray lol.. look at the white mustang with all black wheels... even if the lip was polished its hard to tell the wheel design from that distance.. maybe a five spoke maybe not...guess I'm too old to get with the black craze.. : )

Exactly...I would not do black, they'll get completely lost.

I have the same wheels with the same finish and have no issues keeping them clean.

That is a beautiful look on your car,if you just want to prevent the dust from gathering in the textured, rough cast finish, clear them as LS1NOVA suggested,it'll take them one step darker which will be a nice contrast.

If you want to see what that'll look like, just spray them with water.

My suggestion...do not do black.

I've loved black wheels forever and always, but I could not believe the difference when I stripped the black off my 17s and painted them gunmetal...it's unreal. A nice wheel like you've got there deserves to be noticed.

I would and the ridges off of the spokes and then satin black them, or maybe gloss black to go with the stripes I think I see on the hood and the vinyl top.

I vote for dark charcoal. I did a quick darkening of the wheels so you can see about what they might look like..

Nice car by the way.

Realize its not the same wheel...but its on white with gray so here ya go...If you wanna do it an easy way.. Not a pro-car but i did my tundra wheels... They were chrome KMC but i hated them .And chrome was getting nasty form MAG Chloride... so i " red" Scotch brighted the chrome gave it a machined finish look.. then 400 the centers..sprayed the centers with rattle can VHT epoxy chassis paint and used the dupli color dark metalic wheel paint Held up good for a year and i sold the truck not sure what they look like now.. BUt i got alot of commpliments on them Id do it again with out a question on my next project ..

What happened to the wheels, they got lost.Black will do that...

Without a doubt - graphite.

I don't like black on white... too stark of a contrast. Graphite or gunmetal is more subtle and tasteful against white, and it will compliment the black top/stripes.

And that Duplicolor wheel paint is awesome. I've used it many times and you can't kill the stuff if you tried. No need for clear coat.. it'll never come off. Just prep with their grease remover.

I'm with John. You sometimes lose the 'look' of the wheel in black and for your car, I'd personally do something like graphite and emulate the normal spoke color.

Well I just got the wheels back from being powdercoated, I went with satin black. I'll get some pics as soon as it stops raining here in Rockford, IL.. I figured if I don't like them I'll be going to 18's next.

Well here's what I have to work with now, I'm still undecided. I miss the looks of a fully polished wheel.

Looks good still. If you want something different you can always spaybomb them with the wheel paint!

Well I think they look great.

But, if you saw my wheels, you would see that I'm biased.

Very nice, can't really argue that look one bit.
I would have preferred a dark grey myself but hey...if you're happy,I'm happy.:yum:

I'm telling you it was a hard decision to make.

It always is when trying to find those perfect wheels for your ride...that's why I've finally settled on 3 sets for each car, lol.
