Hows it going everyone, Im finally making head way on my 1966 Lemans, it used to have a 468 BBC with a t400. I am dropping in a 2004 5.3 with a Thumpr Cam, double roller, TSP pulley, PRC heads, a LS6 intake, and the full swap kit with long tubes. I am running a Speartech harness, a rockvalley EFI tank. I picked up a Wilwood 6p front and 4 piston back. I got a Hotchkis TVS system, a full custom gauge set up with autometer guages, a 1999 Trans Am seats, with full power... She is going to be a sweet ride.. Its funny its a orginal 326 motor, thats why I went with the 5.3.. So I can keep 326 badges on the side :)

Here are some pics. I will keep dropping pics in. as I do other work.

All you guys doing these LS swaps makes me want to do one now, but alas the cash flow just doesn't allow for it at the moment, and honestly I wouldn't know where to begin, LOL. Looks good though, good luck and keep posting up pics!!

I added the 6 piston brakes up front and started tearing into the interior.. I also added a DSE brake booster... I got the full Hotchkis TVS system, Tubular upper and lower control arms, in and the rear wilwood in as well.. those will go in hopefully next weekend.

I have a question as you guys visit my updates, I have a question. I have the Wilwood big brake kit, and want to get a set of lowering spindles...does anyone know which ones work with what I have brake wise??

I too wanted the boss 18 inch on my 65 cutlass but they rub hard on the front inner fenders. I have even rolled and flattened the lip. I have disc and 2 inch drop spindles with ls1 power plant. I require a 5.25 inch backspace up front with a 8 inch rim to clear. Have you tested yours lock to lock yet? I'm currently running a 225/60R 16 tire which is 26.62 tall. Me also likes mucho side wall.

You are going to love the LS and with that setup it should make good power. Nothing better than having reliable, efficient horsepower. You may want to look into some Magnaflows, they sound awesome on an LS motor.

Car runs Yes... Ordered my new wheels from Driverzinc, Interior is done... Finishing brakes.. I grafted 2004 Corvette mirrors came out great I think, I added a Ididit tilt, kick panals spakers, Lokar shifter with LED indicator, I ended up not being happy with the front end so bought new CCP lowering spindles and L&H steering arms. Im getting ready for paint next, Black of course. Its sounds great, and Im soo close... I bought a new home and this is where the Gto and Trans am are staying, my Inlaw unit and 2 1/2 car garage.. I have the dream garage, plus I have a 3 car garage on the main house... the Trans Am is waiting in the wings, but need to finish the GTO...God has been good to me,

very nice! How high are the TA seats compared to the originals? Did you have factory buckets before? I've been looking for a set for my 64 chevelle, but it looks like most modern seats are too high. I'd like to keep the back around the same height as the buckets in it now. Keep up the good work!!

qnitro

They are just a little higher than the factory, but much more supportive. I had buckets before

Between the Viper and the Z06, is there one that just completely blows you away compared to the other?

qnitro
01-18-2012, 12:01 PM
The Viper and the Z06 are 2 different anmimals... The Viper is my favorite, get in and hold on.. no room for error, the Z06 much easier to drive..Z06 is just a tick faster... But Im a ****ty driver, so that might make the diff.. But viper is truely a Driver car.. Im a little more reserved with it.. my favorite.. Viper.. Just because its rare..

I'm new here and just read your thread. Car looks great! Wondering what motor mounts you used, didn't see them in your list. Looked like BRP.
Just curious as I am in the planning process on my 67 Tempest.

I dropped it off at paint today.. They told me 3 months :( Its a great price and its a 2 stage, blocked, welding all holes, painting the whole car black, which is very hard to look perfect, doing inner fenders, truck, radiator support.. all of it.. so lets see.. They did my Buddy's 55 Belair with a Ls6, t400 and ajag rear over the last 5 months and its a work of art.. I drove the car over to there shop and it ran great, but still needs to be tuned.. Ohh and for steering I used a Ididit..and nice talking to you on the phone too..

OK.. This sucks :) So I loved the way my 75 Trans Am, so I ended up tearing down the GTO, pulled the old heater core, my Dad is half way smoothing the fire wall.. He needs to weld the bottom.. Than I bought another Wegner Billet drive set up.. and Im picking up another vintage air..

Well, Im all most done, the Vintage air set up should be here Monday or Tuesday, I throw that in, put interior and fender back on.. car is ALMOST done.. I have the engine bay finished.. Came out sooooo much better..I just have to put the coils back on.. no more brackets, these are the holley Crinkle black valve covers and the coil mount direct.. Im in the final stretch.. I can see the end.. 90days AT most.. Im driving to Hot August nights.. And the same for my 1975 Trans Am, 90 days tops..

Here is new, new Holley Throttle Body, Fast fuel rails, Wegner front drive set up, and holley valve covers, with new inner fenders and smoothed firewall..and relocated the battery to the rear

Nice job on all of your cars by the way!

They are C5 Corvette mirrors. They are Highly functional, unlike the stockers, I bought them from ebay for the pair like 190 bucks..... The car is 99.9 done.. I had the A/C charged blows cold ass air, Radiator fans turn on when A/C is going, hooked up neutral safety switch, I had the car tuned, put down 415RWHP, with the 4L60E and 3200 Stall.. last thing is Stereo.. Im going to work on that this weekend.. I am taking it back to my Painter in the next week or so, I have just a few flaws I want fixed.. Im taking it to Goodguys in Pleasanton for sure March 28/29.. Im really crunching trying to Finish the Trans Am,(my other Project) So it can go Goodguys as well...I will have final pics of this car in a month.. Interior and Exterior...

Why won't you use the GM pan?

I can't bring myself to go Holley on the oil pan because it's close to $600 with baffle vs < $200 for the GM stuff.

Its how much they hang down below frame.. on a fbody.. forget..you will rip the thing off.. on the A body its OK...So I guess on some applications is OK.. But since 80% of all my projects are fbody :) I will go with a Holley

Nope not procars, Its 1998 Trans Am seats with full power. I just took off the head rest. I have the Lokar shifter with the LED indicator as well..

Hi Kevin, my car is 90% complete after redoing the original seats, they do not work to high,
1. how are the trans am seats ?

2. can you get more distance from the clutch with legs ? do they hug you in good ?

3. Also how did the back Trans am seat work any modification

qnitro

Whats up Brother... Yeah, the 1998-2002 T/A seat work great.. I just took off the headrest to make it look older.. The power seat adjust back/ forward up and down, and works great for pedal travel. Im 6'5"240 and fit great.. The rear seats are stock, but we covered them in same material(PLeather) to mimic the lines.. You need modifications, I know I will/might get flamed but Year one sells seat extensions, see added pics for detail, worked great.. I learned though from now on I will build bracing for seat I buy..

I think your Chevelle friend is mistaken. The 8.2 BOP isnt known for being very strong at all and the aftermarket support sucks compared to a 12 bolt or a 9". I decided, after looking at how much I would have in my 8.2, to just bite the bullet and build a 9"
