After another rainy track day yesterday at Road America on my GSXR-1000, I thought that car trackdays might be a little more enjoyable when the weather sucks.

I have a pseudo pro-touring 1972 Malibu that I would love to put on the track but I need a little help brainstorming on what is actually required to make it safe and fun. While I would love to win the trackday, I really want the minimum parts for reliable and consistent performance.

Here is what I have
1972 Malibu
2007 LY6 6.0 with cam, headers, cold air.
TKO-600
12 BOLT 3.31
Ebiach prokit lowered 1.5"
Rear aftermarket trailing arms-Eddy spherical uppers.
Poly bushings with new Bilsteins.
Grand Cheeroke steering box.

Obviously the stock brakes will need to be upgraded. I just saw the new Wilwood 2 piston retrofit calipers. Would these be enough on a quality rotor, braided lines, and performance pad, or do I need to go to a big brake kit. Are rear disks required? Stock master OK?

Is a PS or oil cooler required?

I know the front factory suspension sucks, but the bushings and ball joints are in great shape.

What is a good tire recommendation with a nice mix of value and grip?

Thanks for the help.

If I were like you and wanted to bolt some stuff on and not totally re engineer the whole car I would have a good look at the Hotchis tvs system.....Ive read nothing but good reviews about any of their stuff.........D

I really was hoping for somebody to tell me the stock front suspension was enough to have fun. If I change it, most likely it will be a SC&C kit.

My biggest concern is still the brakes. On the street they are only there for one good stop then they fade terribly.

I was looking at this.

I would say Kore3 for brakes SC&C for suspension and a quality set of tires and you should be ok.

But I would try it as is unless you got money to burn.
