i have a 1970 nova and im using the dse mono to multi leaf conversion kit. when i installed the kit i have a space between the rear end and the upper locating pad, and when i put the car in gear or drive down the road it makes noise and rattles because its loose. what do i need to do to correct this issue? its on both sides. its like the upper pad needs to be thicker?
Thanks
Brandon

Ideally you should replace the upper axle mount.
We have used 1/2" id and 1 1/8" od steel tube to make a spacer for the plate. edit: scratch that, I see it has spacers....
What bottom plate are you using? Using cusions?

so i have found the problem the hothckis springs only have 3-leafs and the dse rear springs have 4-leafs and that the amount of gap that i have. so it looks like the kit will not work with hotchkis leaf springs?! so i guess i should just add another plate to take up the space

Talk to Hotchkis. They used to sell a spacer plate that bolted on to the spring pack for just this purpose. Or you could make one yourself. Then again, you could also see what using the cushions does for you.

Yep I 2nd the pads. some urethane pads would probably work.
I have even took some old springs a part to make spacers/add spring rate.
Hope this helps

Arent the Hotckis Springs made to be direct mono replacements? I was under the impression that on a mono leaf car, you didnt have to change the perches or use a multi leaf conversion kit with their 3-leaf springs. (?)

ok i called dse and they said that they do have this issue and some people just machine dow the aliumi spacers to correct the problem. i just in stalled the cushions that came with the kit on the bottom of the spring seems to have taken care of the problem. thanks for you help guys

Talk to David Pozzi...I think he took his poly cushions out and made up a spacer plate to index the spring to the rear end.....Mary had a problem keeping the cushions in the car when tracking it...they kept squirming out from under the springs.
edit: nevermind...I mis-understood the problem in your OP.
