I have a basic question that has been asked a hundred times, but i will ask one more. I see that a lot of you guy are running the late model rims on your cars. How are you getting them to fit? Are you using spacers or custom built suspension parts. I have a 67' Camaro that has been lowered 2" all around, and when it gets back from paint i am going to be purchasing some new rims and tires. I like the look of the 17" rims but most of what i see are the Torque Thrust II's. Do not get me wrong, i like the rims, but just want something a little different.

And does anybody know what is the biggest backspacing i can put on the rear of my car with out min-tubbing it. And if i get 17" for the back what size tire should i get? I do not need the wides tire just the tallest (this is what my wife likes and i try to keep her happy when i can as i am spending too much $$$ on the car now)hahaha

Thanks for all you help
Matthew

You should try browsing through the "Sticky: Pro-Touring.com's Wheel Fitment Database" thread at the top of this forum. There's data in there on several different wheels for the '67 Camaro. I'm not positive which backspace you should run. From what I've seen, there's a lot of guys running in the 5" to 5.5" area. I took my car up to a guy at a wheel/tire shop near me and had him measure my wheelwells, and he measured it at 4.5", so I'm gonna get that double checked before I purchase a wheel.

As far as which wheels to go with, I'm not really sure what to tell you there. I'm kinda having the same dilemma there, too. I really like the Torq Thrust 2's, but after going to the Hot Rod Power Tour in Fort Worth last year and reading on this forum and stuff, you realize just how many people have those wheels. I was gonna put them on my car, but I'm not sure if I want to anymore.

I really like the style of the modern looking forged rims, especially spoked wheels with the nuts around the lip. I'd really like to do those style rims and paint the centers to match the silver stripes I'll hopefully have, and leave the outer lip polished. The only problem is forged wheels like those are usually pretty expensive (way more than a set or TT2's). To get an idea of what I'm talking about, look in Steve1969LS1's VBgarage at his 68 Camaro. Hope something in this ramble was helpful.
