So since I am going to pick up my new project this weekend I decided that I would come onto the site for the first time in a while and say hi, along with introing my new project. Even though I know it will not be done for quite some time.
This will be a slow build up as it will be done as time and funds allow. It will be a very labour intensive project as we have come up with a number of ideas and been working on the designing phase for about 6 months. Plans include building a complete chromoly tube chassis with rollcage for the truck. Right now we are in the process of building a frame table for the truck to get started on. Once that is completed then the cab, front fenders, and rad upport will be put onto the table and used to figure out where ride height will be set at and fabrication will start. The plan is calling for C5/C6 front suspension with coil overs, and a splined swaybar set up in the front with a custom 4 link with coilovers and another splined swaybar setup in the rear. With the four link we will be building a wishbone to compliment the rest of the rear suspension. The rear will be a sheetmetal 9" Ford with rear discs, probably Wilwoods with a park brake setup. Front discs will be probably another wilwood setup. For rolling stock the plan is to run the production ZR1 19x10s up front and 20x12s in the rear.

For the powertrain I will be using a LQ4 6.0 liter truck block with a stroker rotating assembly to produce 408 cubic inches. I am still looking into my options for oil pans for ground cleareance and frame fitment, but will probably end up with either a vette LS1 or LS2 pan. Top half of the engine will be heavily worked LQ4 heads with a LS6 intake. It will be running a set of vette accessories on the front. This engine will get custom headers breathing into a pair of turbos that will be mounted away from the engine under the box. Power will be sent through a Turbo 400 trans with a Gear Vendors overdrive splitter attatched to it.

I am planning to use engine plates instead of a traditional motor mount system, as I beleive this will allow for better packaging into the chassis of the powertrain.
My goals for this project are to have a wet curb weight of 3200 pounds, make 650+ rwhp, run 11.0 or quicker 1/4 mile times and get more into autocrossing and track day events. But I want to accomplish this with a package that can be nearly daily drivable.

I had a 67 long box as my first truck. I have really been missing that truck since I sold it so I figured that I would build another one with all the things that I wanted to do to the first one but wasnt able to. Ill have some pics of the truck once I pick it up. I had to look at about 15 to find a decent starting point cab. I wasnt super concerned about the floors or firewall condition as the are both going to get cut out and have custom ones build to work with the frame and powertrain. I hope to have some pics of the basic truck this by the end of the weekend, and I am really hoping to get it ripped apart and onto the frame rack by the end of next week.

So I went and looked at this 67. It was not in good shape at all. So now I am waiting to go look at a 69 pickup. There was not much left of the 67.

Some great parts/trucks etc. over at 67-72chevytrucks. Guys are really helpful over there, I've been a member for many years.

I'm building a 68 GMC I picked up from NM, very clean, no rust easy to work with, maybe look for something in NM, AZ, probably worth the haul.....not sure where you are.

My build has a SBC with Motec fuel injection and air ride suspension. Not quite pro touring but should be a fun ride.

Another cool thing is you can get huge meats in the rear, Mickey T. 18" wide wheels back there with no problem.

Excited to see your build.

I will probably settle on using the 69 cab, because the price is most definatelty right. Friend of a friends bought the truck for the fresh 400 small block and has informed me if I pull the engine for him I can have the rest of the truck. The areas that I am concerned about are solid so that is probably the route I will take.

Well I got all my steel for my frame table ordered. Should be here Friday afternoon. Now I am having the fun of trying to track down enough 4130 'moly without having to special order in way to much. Some of the local shops are coming back with they will bring it in if I order 2500lbs, but thats enough to build probably 5 chassis so Ive been attempting to find someone who has my roughly 240 feet I need to build my frame.
