View Full Version : 73 Mustang - turn grandma's car into a streetfighter?

So I've had this 73 mustang for a couple of years, tried to sell it on and off, and probably couldn't give it away for 3K. All original 6 cyl car, auto, ps/pb, 70K miles.

So why not make a street fighter out of it?!? I've got an extra 302 I can build for it. Maybe throw some total control suspension and better brakes at it. Bigger wheels and tires. Perhaps a nasa hood and some spoilers too. Anyone have ideas on how to do this on the cheap, wheel fitment, suspension upgrades, etc? Thanks for looking... Ron

Wow, that thing is a time capsule! Very cool.

There are a ton of DIY mods that will save you a ton of money.

-Shelby/Arning drop
-Roller spring perches
-Granada disk Swap or late model (SN95) mustang disks
- late model 5.0/EFI swap

Couple sites to look at:

Dazecars.com
Opentrackerracingproducts.com
Ultrastang.com

Wow, I wish my ragtop was that clean.
IMO, leave the body and interior and do the suspension and driveline.
Looks like a cool build... though I'm partial to the big Mustangs.

Man that is so stock. Looks like a super clean starting point for a project. Coolest Mustang Ive seen in that bodystyle was badged as the BOSS 5.4. My former boss had that car build. It is incredible.

Didn't I see on another thread somewhere that these cars can easily swallow up a 315 tire in the rear?
