My wife got me a cool present for the big 45... Thunderhill trackmasters day on April 23. She knows how to give good presents. For my big 4-oh.. she got me a aerobatic flight lesson at Sean Tucker's flight school in a Pitts S-2C. What a blast that was...

Anyone here plan on being at T.H. on the 23rd? I will be in the vette, cause I don't trust the Camaro for that kind of thrashing yet...:6gears:

Well, I survived. I had a great time. I know driving a Z06 isn't really pro-touring... but it's a good vehicle to use as a basline for the pro-touring cars... I thought my 2+hr drive was wasted when I got a flat tire my first session, but it was a bad valve stem that let all my air escape out of my LF tire. The tire guy tried to sell me a new sat up front and told me that he would trust it to get me back home, but I shouldn't go out on the track... the two guys next to me agreed that the tire looked fine, so I went out cautiously the next session and checked my tire afterward, and it was fine. We were running CCW ... one note... I started one of my sessions behind a new Chevy Cobalt SS that had some sort of factory HP boost, I'm assuming a smaller driven pulley to get more boost. The guy told me later it has 285 hp... It was all I could do to pass him, and it took me several laps to catch him and he only had a 5-10 second head start.... I'll post videos later tonight... hopfully. There was a BMW M3 that rolled at turn 9 in one of my latter sessiones but they were ok, the bimmer wasn't to good though...

Greg,

Thanks for sharing those videos. Wow! what a beautiful day at the track. It looks like great fun.

How long will it be before you get the CMC car on track?

It is a dealer installed package known as the Stage 1 kit. It removes the restriction from the computer to limit turbine speed. It adds 1 sensor, replaces another, and a reflash and viola, 25 more HP, a higher rev limit, higher speed governor limit and a LOT more fun. Works on HHR SS too! They are also known for their handling characteristics. I think it was rumored Mr. Stielow tuned the Cobalt/HHR chassis for the SS package. I wouldn't mind running my HHR round that course!

The Cobalt did go... The owner was all smiles when I talked to him. Most of the ground that I made up catching hime was in the corners...
