But out of the choices listed I voted stock.

2000ish Lincoln LS rear handles (think no key hole in the handle)

They will mount flush on a door with only a small cutout....

Shave them would be my vote. Clean is nice, but if you plan on doing some autocross I don't think it is legal....Have to check the class and track rules

keep the handles with stock or the ringbros.

some tracks if not all require the use of an exterior handle to open the door if neccessary, Think emergency!

I shaved the handles on my Buick, and it looks great to Me.
But on the Chevelle, it looks like something is missing.
Voted stock, but

I vote for the original handles or the Ring Brothers. The rest of the car will not match the shaved look Which is meant for customs or Street rods. If you want something different go with Ring brothers.

What color is your car going to be? You could paint your stock door handles body color or do them in black chrome....

OE W-Brushed finish is what I plan on, but the Ring Brothers are pretty damn nice.

I used the '76 Jaguar handles on my '69. They look very sleek, which I like and they don't stand out as being different unless you know the car. IMO, less is more.
I like the Fessler look also.

I like the look of late model handles that are flush so I voted GTO.

resto-mod lets see some pics.
I vote stock or RB or Felser. guess that doesn't help much.

Another option: paint the stock handles low-gloss black.

I have those GTO handles on mine. But I live in Oz, so I went the 4 door Caprice ones. Took the rear door ones, and the Caprice ones come in a "faux Chrome" option, which i did...

I had the same dilemma I went with Kindig-it Design handles.

Commodore (GTO) door handles have an annoying rep for breaking if you tug on them too hard.....I wouldn't use them.
Ring Brothers or stock.

jlcustomz
12-06-2012, 10:29 PM
I'd say a custom handle such as ringbrothers or Kindig. To me the oval shaped gm handles look stuck in that time period.

i'll eventually make my own flush handles to mount to the top of my el camino doors, similar to 70's vettes or 2nd gen vipers, but flush.

Ring brothers look sick I'm leaning towards those and kindig are sweet but
600 crazy

The Ringbrothers handles have a weird curve to them, almost like they are frowning. The Fesler handles look nice, but the originals have worked for years and years with no issues. I'm all for upgrading stuff that needs upgrading, but the OEM did a god job on the exterior handles!

I'm going with the Kindigit handles myself. I really like how they basically disappear into the panel when painted. I called and talked to them today they were real proud that they are all made in house and they are semi custom for each car. Less hassle than installing door poppers and a emergency bypass for when the battery dies.

I have a 70 Chevelle SS restomod I am tackling - Stock handles, shaved door lock, electric locks. Stays clean, less money and the door lock being separate from the handle and effectively looking like some kind of pimple on the door goes away. Then I can toss the saved hundreds and something else.

I perfer the stock handles and the Fesler/Ring Bro have been growing on me... but truth be told I've been thinking about using handles from an older Miata.

I love miata handles. Some older Triumph and Fiat handle are pretty too.

I wonder how many hundreds of dollars of profit kindigit makes off those handles. WIsh they were reasonable so i could get a pair!

When you remove a door handle from a classic it takes away from the car and body lines,I have removed locks and its all thats needed to clean it up.
I just put c5 door handles on a customers 67 vette and it looked like A$$.
the expencive ringbros stuff shure can make a car look goddy fast.
stck is cheapest, easyest,no one will complain about the looks.
