I will start this thread with what info I have which is lacking detail. Hopefully someone will fill in the names etc.
We had great weather for both days this past weekend. Light headwind on Sat. and light tailwind on Sunday. Some very fast stuff showed up and several records fell. Sat. PM the guy that holds the Z2Z record with the Evo set a new track record for cars at 237. Sunday morning it was bettered by a 3rd gen Fbody that ran 241.
Mid morning on Sun. the motorcycle track record was reset at 264. That held for about an hour when the record was raised to 272. I had the misfortune of being the first to run after this record run. Had to sit on the line for about twenty minutes strapped in and sweating bullets while the finish line cellebration went on. Did I mention it was about 80 degrees and when I'm strapped in I cannot reach the A/C switch. Anyway Herb and I carried the PT banner and we both ran personal best speeds. Herb at 163.5 and I ran a 159.6. 160 has become my 200. I can scare it but can't quite get past it. Hopefully someone paid more attention to details and can add in names and more car info. I have said it before, you guys need to do this. It is four times as much fun as a dragstrip pass.

I'll second that, if you haven't done it, at least go out and try it once! It's a lot of fun and you'll finally know what your car is capable of.
As for me, I did the math and 163.5 is as fast as my car will go. With a 3.25 rear gear, 27" tall tire, 6800 rpm through the lights, and a major aero disadvantage (it's a brick), 163.5 mph is it.

Great job Herb and Mike. So mathmatically 163.5 is your limit? Do you have room on the mile for a taller gear?

Yep, 163.5 is the wall for my car.
I'm in 4th gear by the 1/2 mile mark, so there should be enough of the mile left over with a 3.00 gear.
According to the calculator, a 3.00 gear would push it to 180 mph at 6720 rpm; factor in the aero and I think 170ish would be more realistic - maybe. Only way to know for sure would be to try it.
Speaking of aero, after looking at photos from the finish line, it looks like my car has a lot of front end lift. I think a different front spoiler design could help but I doubt I could afford wind tunnel time!

Maybe we need to slap my 3.00's in there. You got the torque to pull em. I'm still 300 RPM from my limiter which is set where my engine made max. HP. Herb already knows, but for the rest of you guys, I was only able to turn 5900 in fourth with my 27" tires. I put my drag rad on which are 25.5" and made two passes at 6400 and gained 4 mph. You never know what will help gain that last little bit. I gotta have 4 more mph for my class record. Herb needs 8. Its there.

Matt, With a hard launch I'm flat out at 5/8ths track. Herb has a ton more torque than me and should be able to get to speed even quicker. Herb also hasn't mentioned this is his first test of the EFI. I think it came thru with flying colors.

Herb....all this time looking at your avatar pic and seeing your screenaname..I thought the blue car was an el camino. Wow am I dumb! Major brain fart!
The cars look awesome out there. I am not too far away from Maxton and will have my car out there once it is done. I need to join the ECTA!!
Any pointers for a rookie?

Sorry for the confusion, I should probably have an avatar that better reflects my screen name!
Thanks and definately come on out and see what you and your car are capable of!
The only pointer I can give a rookie is to make sure everything on your car is tight. The racing surface at Maxton is pretty rough so if something is loose, you'll find out pretty quick! :hand:
