Anybody interested in an open track day at Buttonwillow June 5th and or 6th? NCRC is having a track day there and it is only $99. If you have an AMB transponder you can get your laps timed.

Thanks for providing link Curtis. Just the fact that they will time your laps in an open track forum is cool. All you need is an AMB transponder. A great way to improve driving skills and car handling through testing different components and settings. I think I paid about $300 for tansponder, was a long time ago, but I riveted mine to the frame rail in front of my right wheel then brought some power to it. Pretty easy.

Hate to break it to you(only cuz it means mo money) but a trailor is a wise tool to put on the wish list if you plan on attending alot of track days. You dont want to have to pay for a tow home. I have lost a trans and a motor on two seperate ocassions. You could probly do without it but I added a 5000 lb winch to mine.

NBever done Laguna before, sounds good, I'll try and make it.
Right now I'm having engine issues. I had NYES racing engines build me an aluminum 427. I dropped it in and fired it up and it had a bad oil leak, was thinking rear main seal. After pulling it out looked more like oil pan. Pulled pan and had all kinds of cork gasket material in it. I took photos. Was also leaking in front of intake. Pissed me off. I was supposed to go to Buttonwillow today but had to fix their **** so I had to cancel. Cost me $30 to cancel.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I'm not to fond of cork but I actually replaced the old one with cork again only because it was convenient.
It is an aluminum PBM block based on first gen with an LS firing order.

Oh, something to think about: 92 db limit. If you've gotten sound elsewhere and were at 92 db, you will be at 95 db easily. Sound station is about 20 yards (if that) off track right, between turns 5/6. May need some custom pipe extensions to aim up/away and extend away quite a ways I broke down to buying some Burns Stainless muffler and will find out this coming weekend if it was money well spent, or wasted..
Registration will probably fill quickly, but there's always last minute drop outs so you can email them and see.

Back from Buttonwillow a day and a half early. Car was leaking oil bad and I only got 4 laps on each session and only 3 sessions. Thanks to Asif, Allen, and Vince for doing what they could to help me out. And Vince, It was a pleasure meeting your wife Gina.
I tried to get video of my third and fastest session but of course the Go Pro failed me. Nothing worse than catching a Z06, watching him get loose trying to lose me, and not being able to prove it. We were running 13 CW configuration and I was knocking huge increments of time off each session I went out. 2:18 was the best I could muster before having to have to call it a day and there was alot of time left on the table but oil leak gremlins prohibited me from making it happen.
Here are the few photos I had time to take in between wiping the puddles of oil out of my engine bay
The gal in the newer camaro is Vince's wife, apparently She needed to show Vince a few things, LOL.

Valve covers, timing chain cover, front seal, etc., I couldn't figure it out. Would only leak under load while driving. Rear seal was the least of my troubles.

Thats what Dave at NCRC told me. May have to point pipes toward driver side.
Gonna pull motor again this week to reseal EVERYTHING!!!
Just looked at track day cost for Speed Ventures at Laguna July 10th, $320 is way over my budget. I like to try and stay $200 and under

Asif,
That AMX on course is totally fresh. Did you go for both days, and did you get any video? Was it your first time at Buttonwillow?

I went for both days and it was my first time there. I really enjoyed the track. it's a lower speed track than thunderhill but it's busier with lots of sweepers and the esses which were a lot of fun. drove down (260 miles one way) on my kumho victoracer track tires, beat the snot out of the car for 2 days and drove home. car just plain works! doesn't have the 600+ HP Gaetano has but the brakes are great and the handling was real nice even though it's got a street friendly alignment. I'll try to get some video up soon although I had problems with my gopro as well :(
For one of Gaetano's short sessions I got to ride shot gun. BAD ASS! if you see his car in your rear view you need to just pull over and park it NOW or you are going to get your a$$ run over!
btw, Gaetano, I PM'd you my upcoming track days. I'll post here in-case any one else wants to try to coordinate a meet up. I'll be doing an october date to but haven't decided which one yet.
Fri. July 9th @ Thill (TEAM - miata club)
Sat/Sun Aug. 21/22 @ Thill (NASA)

Thanks John, I just picked up a 1" lowering block for the rear. I'm hoping it will help with handling and should look pretty cool also.

I forgot that I had the 2 inchers in the trailer.
Wish I can get together with you guys but its going to be a busy summer with the new shop opening.
I am going to do a few Drivers Clinic's with the wife in October and again in December. Maybe with NCRC in November #2 CW.
I'll put up a thread in August to see if anyone would like to join us.
