I am installing new glass on my 69 Camaro and want to paint a 1-2 inch black strip around the edge of my windshield and rear window (like on newer model cars) to hide fitment issues with the package tray and pillar posts.
My question is what type of paint should I use to do this? I know I saw where someone did this very easily with paint in a shoe polish type applicator but I cant find the thread anywhere to see what paint they used and where they got the applicator.
Thanks for your input.

you could just tape it off and put down a light coat of rattle can semi gloss black.

I think what you have seen being painted on a windshild with a dauber is called windshield primer. It comes in clear and black. I know that 3M makes it but I am sure any automotive glass place would have it.

Thanks guys...in doing some futher research I see that in the industry it is called a Frit band. It is the black painted band around the inside of the windows. All new cars have them.
I know the chrome strip will cover everything on the outside...I want to add a little additional coverage on the inside.
Seems to me from what I've read that the pinch weld primer goes on the body (window channel) and not the glass so I am not sure that will work.
I deffinetly do not want it to peel off so I am not sure a rattle can paint will work either as was suggested earlier and I dont want it to effect teh adhession either. I need some type of glass paint that is long term.
Please keep the ideas coming.
Thanks

Im not too sure about paints. I know I got some overspray on one of my windows of my truck 8 years ago, and its still there. Its been in the elements and all, and hasn't really faded either. I never removed it because its hard to see, and the truck is only a beater. But that was urathane enamel and it seems to have held up well.:)
Another thought, what about a vinyl decal?
You could probably do the measurements, take them to a decal maker and have them lazer cut one for you and have it one piece. Or just buy some 1-2 inch wide vinyl and do it that way.
I think it would be pretty easy to lay it on, then cut out the shape you want. Im sure your going to want raidus'd corners, so you could cut the excess with a razor blade.
Also, you may beable to buy some window tint. Im sure the dark limo tint would be dark enough for your liking. Also very easy to trim away excess.
Or, bring the windows to a window tinter, and have them tint the edges in an inch or two... If they do that sort of thing.
