Hello everyone,
I know that AutoCad isnt the best program to be doing this but im basically being forced to use it for a class im taking here at USF..

Weres supposed to make a 3D rendering of anything we want, as long as its complicated enough. I decided on a set of headers for an LSx. heres a couple pics of where im at:

Can someone help me figure out why the flange is filling the holes when i extrude it and not the actual part? (its AutoCad 2009) thanks in advance guys!

Have you tried using press/pull instead of extrude? We work with 2010 so I'm not sure if 09 has press/pull.

I haven't used AutoCAD for years either, but I would say to extrude the outside first & then go back & extrude the holes & subtract them from the rest of the flange.

Sam has the answer. You are trying to extrude the holes WITH the shape of the flange. The unattached geometry (the circles for the holes) is confusing the extrude operator. It can't "attach" the circles to the outer shape so it extrudes the geometry as sheet bodies.
Extrude just the outer shape then put in ALL of the holes separately.

Thanks guys for the help! i ended up just starting over, there were a few other problems with my dimensioning. After extruding it and making the holes i typed in the command "subtract" and clicked from the body the holes and got this:

im thinking of trying to design turbo headers for an LS, then when i get the hang of it, maybe for my small block chrysler :fingersx: ..only in solidworks
