Can cam bearings be removed with engine in. BBC

Can cam bearings be removed when the engine is still attached to the tranny and in the vehicle? BBC. I have a few nicks in the front cam bearing. If not all can just the front be replaced?

The cam plug on the back side of the block needs to be removed to align the bearings. I have seen people install the front one only and and not remove it from the car. They used a bushing installer but it is hard to get it straight.
