I have a Steeroids rack on my '67 'bird. Tightened everything up and really changed the car, but steering feel is lighter than I would like. Only other gripe is that the rack and bracket hang very low - I need to really drive carefully everywhere not to scrape. This summer I am going to try and fix this issue.
excellent ,,, r u using stock control arms ? am using DSE arms a coilover's ,,, will a rack setup fit ?
thanks and regards ,,,

I didn't think you could use a rack & pinion on the firebird without modifying the subframe. The problem has been the pontiac motor mounts are right where the steering shaft needs to go. Is the steeroids a rear steer mount? Do you have a pontiac or ls motor?
i will be using an ls engine ,,, does that change anything ?

Can't say for sure about a pontiac, but I'm pretty happy with my Unisteer rack in my 69 Camaro, it all tucks in very close. My only complaint is the outer tie rods are not greasable, and you really need to use 3 u joints. I don't see how DSE control arms would be a problem, I'll be buying some soon.
