Can clear coat be tinted?
I am talking a real pale transparent type of tint. Or is it better to spray the parts witha transparent mid-coat and then clear it.

I am wanting the carbon fiber to have a tint / color close to the other paint work on my current project, but still want the carbon fiber to show.

I plan on using HOK products if this makes a differance.

My buddy tints clear with black base to make smoked head lights on newer vehicles.

Thank you. That makes my life a lot better in the long run. I have only done basic paint work in the past. I am going to get a local shop too do the paint work for me but need to know so I can get the layout and everything finished.

Posted over at LG, but I would recommend picking the finished kandy color you like then testing to see if the kandy (mid-coat) tints the CF to your liking. Good luck!

there are few ways you can do it, over reduce the basecoat and shoot it,mix the color in inter-coat clear or binder ,I would not mix it in the clear

+1 I agree with that, I have also sprayed pearls over carbon then clear coated to give it the flip flop- carbon one way and color at a different angle- looks good on complex parts giving color highlightes where the part changes shape
