Another thread gave me this idea. Now lets see some of you or your friends in action!

Does anyone have any videos from Camamros on racing tracks?

Sigh...No contribution, not much interest in this thread. No wonder David Freiburger made comments like Pro Tourers are just bunch of posers. How could I blame him?

Not slalom, but some "rare" shots of Pro Touring cars being used like they are meant to be.

There are also bunch of track day pics in "Events" section of the site (not the forum non-racing event section).

My own car is shown in my sig, running at Buttonwillow Raceway among M3 and Porsche. I modify my car to improve its performance and my lap times, not just to improve aesthetics and wow factors which seem to be the main focus of many people.

Almost any '50~'60s cars are capable of getting attention and sitting pretty at fairgrounds. Out of all sorts of different hot rods, only Pro Touring cars are capable of hanging on corners like late model sports cars, and only real Pro Tourers have the guts to push the limit of their PT cars to prove their true capabilities, like the owners of cars shown above.

I'll go back to Racing section now...

EDIT In response to a couple of posts below, when I say posers, I mean people who have had running cars for a while, yet refuse to take their cars to auto-x/track events and/or have their cars tested by magazines.

Those who are still trying to get their cars running are excluded (for now). I hope you guys won't be afraid of using your cars. I'd say you won't be if you care enough to post a reply in this thread.

If this works, https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3162&stc=1 Please reply if this is not viewable and whether or not you are logged in, apparently I am still having issues posting pics.

I guess I understand the comment about being a poser, but I can tell you that is a lot easier to go out and thrash on a gutted race-car than a "PT-classic". SS

I will change the title to possibly get some more pics in here. Instead of Slalom pics how about some track pics too!
Oh I guess changing the title doesn't change on the site. hmm

I adjusted the title. Can't speak for others, but I don't have a car that's able to go out on track yet. Hopefully soon.

Ok, I have to ask.... Where in the heck did you get that picture of my car Adam? :icon996: That picture was taken last year when they were testing the car in the slalom for Super Chevy magazine. :3gears:
I guess I am confused because your profile says you are in Michigan. I am in California, it is my car, and I don't even have that picture! :ripped: Come on man...spill your guts!

As far as the racing pictures you are requesting in this post...I leave Wednesday for the Nevada Open Road Challenge and should have plenty of them to share when I get back. :drive: Here is me last year at the starting line getting ready to go! (Yes, the car next to me is indeed John Schneider from the Dukes of Hazard's General Lee)

Here are a few shots of my car at the local auto-x. I'll be attending many many more. I think i did pretty well for my first time out. I placed 6th in a class of 12, and i wasn't going to beat the top 3 as they're always in the top 3.

I would have had really cool video of my car. We had a sticky pod mounted to the driverside rear quarter panel when my fuel pump decided it didn't wanna make another run at the autox so it's only about 1/3 of the run... Maybe next time :)

I have about 200 megs of video from a drive I have been doing the past couple of years down through Ohio. It's not on track, so I'm not sure about posting. However Adam, I am bringing my camera to Gingerman on the 24th. I will try to get video and pics of all the cars that show up. If I have time, I will also see about getting a mount setup in my car.

I got the Vette back from the frame shop this morning. About 12 days more to get the radiator back in, front bumper and supports in, new seatbelts, and a couple other things. I also ordered my helmet. Like you said, by the end of the month, we will have some pics and video after the 24th.

I think I might have seen your video before. That looked like fun if it was yours.
That will be awesome if you hook the camcorder in the car. I am going to do that to with either a tri-pod and straps like Steves friend did or I will make some sort of structure to bolt into the back of the car to hold the camcorder.

I fully intend to take photos and video but i still have stock suspension and no posi.I hope to have drifting video before the summer is up.When i finish paying off the car i will start on the suspension. i drive the car hard now and it rolls , clunks and thumps , its a little creepy.
PS I love that caddy!

I also hope to catch a little drifting on video at Gingerman. I would rather drift on the track than a public road. :fingersx:

It's an all steel car 47,000 original miles.

50.7 Front 49.3 Rear and corner weights are with 50lbs of each other.

CAMAROBOY69

CraigMorrison
05-12-2005, 09:49 AM
No, not that heavy. 3200lbs-3400lbs (???). It has since gained some weight since the test with the Dynamat, stereo, AC, new upholstery, etc. When we scale the car again, I'll let you know.

That course is in the parking lot of the Mt. Shasta ski park. They usually make it tight enough, but this year some of the pavement was washed away and to keep speeds down the made it even tighter. It was the complete opposite of a "horsepower course". It's supposed to be repavedfor next year so hopefully they will open it up a little.

I just finished moving to Prescott, AZ and have yet to repair my crappy lifter issue, once that is finished I’ll hook up with Qship and go play.
