At the age of 48 I thought I had learned all I was going to learn but Sat. while hosting RTTC I learned some new stuff. Some may make sense to you and some may not..if you were at the event you hopefully learned what I learned.

1. Color is Salmon

2. I can't fix stupid

3. If you had half a brain you would be twice as smart

4. Pink cowboy hats are the newest fashion rage..just ask Kyle, Larry and a few others.

5. You do not pass but if you do.. you do not pass goal and collect $200 and you are escorted out by the Irvine police.

6. Larry's car is a four wheeler... but he needs some knobby tires

Laughing as I read #2, 3 and 5 as they all involved the same incident (and individual). Glad I could contribute to your "education," with #3 and that the remainder of the day was a simple push of that "Easy" button.

Cheers,
Mary Pozzi

I take it this happened after lunch, and I missed it?

I'm not sure when it happened. Either right before lunch, or right after. Said individual (am I at liberty to say?) was in the green group with me, and we started running the road course around 11:30 or so. Funny, I didn't realize that a certain car was conspicuously absent for the afternoon until it was mentioned after the fact.

Number 3 had us all rolling at the party.

There were two rules for running on the road course - (1) stay on the tarmac and (2) do not pass anyone.

Said individual was initially black flagged for aggressively running up on the car in front of him (a black flag which he ignored). On the subsequent lap he passed said slower car in front of him. There was no subsequent lap after that.

And for what it's worth - the no passing rule was not a RTTC rule, it was a condition placed upon the organizers to use the venue. That pass could have not only shut down the entire evert, it could have result in major problems for the group that hosted us for the day.

Some additonal things I learned:

Automatics with high stall converters are not good for road courses ( I knew this going in but didn't have time to do the tranny swap from the Car Craft Anti-Tour drag race event the weekend before)

I have a very long way to go with car setup and driving skills as I managed to earn the Pink hat both days, but I was in good company.

This was one of the best events I have ever attended of any type anywhere.

Never ask for the Pink Hat before the event even starts---it will come to you--even if you are driving a Hyundai Sonata---ask me how I know.

I'm calling B.S. on this comment. Obviously, you were not working the autocross first thing in the morning when I got to run.

BTW, I don't think I got the chance to meet you at the event. Do you talk as much as you type over on lateral-g? :naughty:

Yes he was there, we saw all your runs. I think someone else got all the cones you knocked over. He was the Cone Head standing by his truck.

So you were the cone killer of the event. May be we need another hat for next time.........how do you feel about lavender?

I doubt anybody got as many as I did on my second run. I just got done watching Mary Pozzi hail Mary it through the course. It was a watch this moment. I went into that first turn going about 45 and it was apparent I wasn't making that corner. So I hit the throttle and did a full 360 doing a burnout and felt a cone get shot out from under one of my tires like a rocket launcher. I still ran a 49 with a 360, burnout, and who know's how many cones. That was my favorite autocross run.:1st:

Yes, I was one of the cone killers, not to be confused with Larry the weed whacker (at least that is what it looked like in one of the pics from the event).

My first run was definitely interesting. I'd never driven the car except like a grandma, so I had no idea what the braking or turning would be like in the Camaro. Obviously as the cones will tell you, I did worry too much about that before my first run. Second run was cleaner, but I started in third gear  ... haha, after the autocross I was a little worried. I couldn't remember if the pink hat was for killing cones or spinning out.

Also, not sure how the lavender hat would work, the point is to make its wearer embarrassed, and I've already got a purple car. Ask Todd how he would feel though.
