I have been working on my 1976 for about 5 years now, and have decided to go a different direction with the project. I bought the car when I has a Junior in High School, with the intentions of restoring it back to near original. It is very close to completion at this point, but working on it through college and getting engaged from then until now has caused this project to be on the back burner at some points. I have decided that I want to take a different approach and make it into a pro-touring machine. I have (without knowing it), been slowly converting it over to pro-touring for a while now. I put dual electric cooling fans from a 99 Camaro, on it with my own custom relay box. I also added the kit with rod ends for my clutch setup, and just recently I got a set of 19' BMW rims, because for the longest time I have been thinking of the idea of doing the C5/C6 conversion. I got the rims for free because I traded the rims for a 307 block that was worthless to me.

I don't want to repost all of my build pictures, so I will just post a link to another one that I have done.

But here are some pictures of my BMW rims for now. They are 19" staggered set off of a 3 series BMW. They are 8.5 front with +35mm offset and backs are 9.5 with +40mm offset. The only problem is that they are off the three series, so I'm not sure what I am going to do with them? I can either get some spacers, or possibly trade them for the 5 or 7 series so the backspacing would be more correct. But for now, I love the look.

I moved the wheel out about 2 inches and that is where I really like it, so I will need about a 2 inch spacer to look really good.

Well there you go, the thread has lots to look at.

Thanks,

BMW rims on a 2nd gen TA. I like that idea :)

You can run the 5/7 series style but I'd stay 3 series and run spacers. I'm having issues with the spacer arrangement on my TA right now. Nothing major just have to make some minor corrections even though I dropped some good money on the spacers.

Keep up the good work and welcome to the site.

Thanks, I am excited about turning it into a Pro-touring car. Although I am just going to paint it the color I want, then slowly transform it. I would like to get a t-56, along with the c6 Z06 Calipers. But first I want to drive it with the stock suspension and drivetrain.

I haven't updated in a long time, but I have been focusing on the restoration phase of my project. I have recently bought a set of C5 Corvette calipers and a set of LS1 rear brake set-up. I have come a long way since my last update here. I will post up some pictures later on of the restoration of when I bought it and where it is now. For now here is a picture of my car as it is now, and a picture of my new brake set-up.

Since my last update I have decided on the paint color and gotten most of it back together.

I also decided to paint all of the trim black, as well as the door handles. I will also paint the parking light bezels under the grill.

Here are the brakes.

Here is what I would like them to look like they are installed. I think they will contrast nicely with the color.

I will get some more pictures soon.
