Is there any pros/cons to using Gilmer pulleys vs. any other type? I will only have an alternator, a PS pump, and the Crank pulley.

Pros.....They won't slip, they don't require the addition of an A/C compressor and frame-notching, or an A/C delete pulley.......
Pros....The Gilmer belt set-up weighs less than a serpentine belt set-up.
Pros....The Gilmer belt makes a supercharger like whirring sound at idle.
Cons...The Gilmer belt makes a supercharger-like whirring sound at idle.
Cons....On full throttle pulls running over 6000rpm using March brackets there is enough pull on the alt to crack the ear on the alt case and shear all of the teeth off of the belt and empty your radiator through the cowl hood on the highway in the middle of nowhere.
Cons....Gilmer belts are impossible to find in the middle of nowhere and take 24hrs to find in Detroit, MI.
The automatic tensioner set-up on a serpentine belt driven pulley system is the better way to go if space allows.

Thanks Jim. I saw a set of these somewhere on the net. But when I googled them I could not find a site that listed pros/cons for them.

HTD belts work good for some things......less tension...smaller etc.
Dont use anything like that ( teeth) on a power steering pump!

I've had good luck with my projects using Concept One Pulleys (http://www.c1pulleys.com). I'm also partial to them because they are headquartered near my house and I can get my hands on their products quickly and pick their brains in person. Plus, I get to watch them tinker with the stuff in their shop.
