I put my Z06 up on my lift for the first time. Everything works as intended! I can open the garage door with the car up, I have enough headroom to walk normally, and I can fully open the doors.

Now to find a project. :)

Very cool, I put some adhesive backed weather strip on mine to keep the doors from getting nicked.

I like it!! I have a similar lift, I would recommend to change the metal line for the hydraulics, it looks like what I have. Mine started to leak and drip on some $ hot rods, thank goodness it missed the paint, I dont think you would want a drop on that nice Vette of yours,, Matty man

I've already gotten use from it. The front air dam was "partially" installed... so it was real easy to finish it all up.

Yeah, those hydraulic lines look pretty awful. The installers subtracted an inch from my measurements, and the hydraulic place subtracted an inch from theirs. So the tube is over 2" from the ceiling, and its all bowed out.

I already bought the stainless replacement tube, now I just need to bend and install it.

That's nice and all, but it would be cooler if you had built your pro-touring car instead of bought it. Oh, let me guess, you "used to have" an awesome Nova -- 427, fuelie heads, 3/4 cam, dual quads, triple hemi afterburners, put a hundred dollar bill on the dash board .......blah blah blah.

Do you have to put the car that high to work on it? or just showing the max lift?

parsonsj

That was max lift. It's got safeties every 3 inches or so all the way up. So you can have it lower for wheel or body work.

That is awesome, I cant wait to get mine. Footings for my shop are getting dug next Thursday. I will be getting the Eagle MTP 9F for $1499 due to width and height restraints. Which one are you using and are Eagle lifts any good?

My lift is a Mohawk. US made, and way more expensive ($7500).

The Eagles are made in China, and will give you years of service, especially in a hobbyist environment.

Thanks, I'm hoping you meant what you said by giving me years of service and not,"need to be serviced for years" Then again I'm not interested in financing a foreign economy either so it looks like I am going to start shopping around, Thanks again.

You got it: years of service. It should work fine for you for a long time.

I *think* everybody knows that John was kidding. John photographed all the articles I wrote, and has been a behind-the-scenes part of II Much from the beginning.

Just doing my moderator duties. :)

Is there a jealous smiley face?

I never thought about the fact that you'll be the only guy who ever told one of those "I used to have one just like yers, only it had an all aluminum 427 and Mercedes carpet, yep, built it in mah garage" story that was actually true!

Funny stuff! And it did (does? I'm still not sure how to refer to the car these days) have Mercedes carpet.

I just picked a used lift up for $750 out of a dealership going out of buisness...had to take it down and put it up myself but hey for $750 and an afternoon I'll take it...Guys may want to shop around a ton of lifts are out in market with all the dealerships closing...

That's sure what I'd do - if I could have.

Unfortunately, I'm not blessed like some of you guys with tall ceiling garages :( I had to settle for a lift that I could at least roll around under on my mechanics stool. Even if I were only going to raise it halfway, a full height lift couldn't be installed in my shop. The Maxjax are a pretty convenient compromise.

Truth is, you just don't know how handy those things are until you have one! Even simple stuff like tire rotations are now a breeze.

Just a word of caution. Make sure the concrete it's anchored to and the anchors used are suitable.

There's another entire thread (now closed) about that very subject.....
