Hey guys,

I am planning to run 1" narrower track width per side on my 66 by shortening the A arms. I know all the reasons why I shouldn't but I am looking for any advice on setting it up as properly as possible.
I plan on SPC uppers with 1" shorter sleeves and shortened UB lowers plus either my stock disc spindles with tall screw in BJs or an L&H tall spindle.
I want to fit Z51 brakes behind my 17" wheels (because I want to, that's why) and I need the extra inch for reduced wheel backspacing. It will give me a bit deeper dish on the front too and I like the look.
Anyhow, how can I verify that this will work? I know there is simulator software out there but would I only use that after the front end is mocked up? I just want to buy the correct parts as far as steerign arm, spindle, etc. I plan on adding a splined sway bar too. Would I need to relocate my upper arm mounting pad on the frame rail to optimize things?

Any advice is appreciated and criticism is ok as long as you don't beat me up too bad.. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/11/smile-1.gif

Have you considered just moving the flange on the hub inward by the distance you want to decrease your track width and then compensating with the caliper mounting bracketry? The spindle pin and hub snout/grease cap will extend through the center of the wheel further, so that's something to keep in mind if you consider going this route.

It could screw up your steering geometry, an inch per side makes a big difference! I hear the sway bar holes move in too, at least on the Fat Man narrow arms, so you need a narrowed sway bar.

Tobin, I think you are spot on with the hub Idea. I don't know why I didn't think it of it as a viable option before. I will PM you to see if you can help with the parts.

Thanks for the response to my post.

I was just thinking.. What about rotor to lower A arm clearance if I move the hub flange in?? Is the z51 rotor tall enough to clear the a arm if I use a stock disc spindle?

Thanks again for the reply.

we built off set hubs for the Black Camaro we did moved them in 5/8 but could have gone 3/4 to 7/8 then worked out the hat depth for the rotor something like a C% offset should be close.

Looking at my stock disc spindle set up it appears that the offset should not be an issue but only someone with the pieces around to mock it up can tell me for sure (Tobin, help!).
