We have adapted our popular electric trunk latch kits to more vehicles. This kit fits 1964-65 Chevelle/Malibu and 1966-67 Nova/Chevy II.
Some metal trimming is required to make the latch fit into these cars. This kit includes everything that is needed except the tools to install it. The catch that is included in this kit is not available as a reproduction item. Therefore a factory latch is used. Since these are factory items that have been discontinued and are not available as a reproduction item these kits will also be limited to supply.
We throughly inspect each catch before it is machined and then we have it zinc plated. We supply a template to show where the trunk lid needs to be trimmed.

The part number for this vehicle is MI 810 the price for this kit is $179.
Limited supply available.

I love the kit, Shannon! Thanks again for developing this convenience item...ESPECIALLY to include the early Chevelles!! The way the latch crisply catches is what impresses me the most. :twothumbs

I have one of these kits on my 66 Chevelle and love it! It's amazing how easily these kits install.

Glad to help out.
The kit is truely a "bolt-on" after some very minor trimming.
We look forward to using them on more future projects !

Giving credit where credit is due. I still get excited when I tell people how cool that gadget is. Hahaha. The kid in me.

that should fit 70-72 Novas and 70-81 Camaros too....I know they are close. Lower catch mounting holes are angled on the Camaro.

On the 68-72 Novas and the 68-72 Chevelles, the latch hits the top of the deck lid before the mounting holes line up, even before that the latch openiong would have to be trimmed to allow the latch to fit.

On the 70-73 Camaros the latch hits the mounting bracket where it angles down to the floor. There would have to be a large cut out to make it fit and then the latch would be exposed with out a closeout panel fabricated over it.

On the 74-81 Camaros there is a floor in the latch bracket and the latch bottoms out before the mounting holes line up. Also the opening of the latch bracket would have to be trimmind to allow the latch to fit inside the bracket.

So the curvature of the deck lid makes it impossible. 10-4

the forward section of the catch mount? so its possible?
Thats right, its reversed then, latch is down in the trunk and catch is on the deck lid.
I'd be willing to try it.

I don't have any 2nd gen catches. They need to be modified to allow the latch to fit inside of it and then plated. The 2nd gens are different than the 1st gen catches too.

The closeout that I mentioned in an above post is one of the reasons that I didn't pursue the kit for this vehicle. I didn't want to add any other expense to the kits. Another reason is the reproduction catch that I bought was formed wrong. No one could tell me if the others in stock were formed the same. I assumed they were do to the way they are produced...in runs.
