I live in Charlotte, NC and I want to have my Pro-Touring 55 Chevy Media blasted (paint is 12 years old and starting to show cracks everywhere..urethane paint) to remove all paint before taking it to paint & body shop. Does anyone know of a quality media blasting business in this area? I've heard they will even come to your house and use bio-degradeable soda balsting material......anyone had that experience? Also, I've got one bid for $475 in Greensboro (110 miles north) and another of $80 per hour and estimating one full day (8hrs time x $80 = $640) but right next to my house. I only want the paint to be taken off as I will deal with any bondo. Anyone got any info on this process....please advise and thanks in advance for input!

You could do it yourself with a rented blaster and Dupont Starblast media. A lot closer to 2-300.00 and you can do it at your convenience.

they get 75 an hr here, i would go with the 640 and call it a day , its more money but its close to home, no chance of a quick rain storm etc when trailering

A friend here just had a truck soda blasted. The results were exceptional in my book. Something you may want to consider is how far you are going to disassemble. The guy that did the blasting said you do not have to remove glass and even the chrome whereas media blasting is going to require removal of everything or some serious protection. As far as money goes, he charged $800 to do inside and out of every panel on a '72 long bed truck. Just my two cents!!
