This weekend I met up with an old classmate of mine that works for the Michigan Visitors Bureau and he told me that Power Tour will end in Detroit in '11 and launch from Detroit in '12. He said they ponied up big money for it (roughly $50,000) and said $35K is the averave for most cities that want a stop on the tour. Not sure how reliable his info is but damn, that's pretty good dough for Hot Rod when you add up all the stops.
Does that sound right (the money) to anyone?

That is a pittance compared to what a city in France pays for a stage start/end on Le Tour.

I think that's probably about right. But understand that it's probably not Hot Rod or Peterson's that take that money. I'd come closer to thinking that money goes to the promotions company, Family Events, the run the venues. Just a guess.

Hmmm, and Springfield, MO has had it either 3 or 4 times. Surprising considering they (Springfield) have been trying to boot the Street Machine Nationals for 10+ years. They finally got it done last year tho and it went to Little Rock.

I can't imagine not wanting a Power Tour stop at your city. The millions pumped into the local economy for just 2 days.
