I've got 275's on the back of my 67 with no mods. I'm running a 9" rear stock length with 17x8 wheels off a 2001 Mustang. 275 is biggest I could fit on that wheel but there is a little room left for more tire if the wheel could hold it.

I also am running 275's on the back with leafs with no mods. The rims ar 9.5" wide but don't remember the offset. I hear that we can go up to 10's with either 285 or 295's but we have to do a mini tub. I also am running the stock width rear end.

Nice to see another mustanger.... for a 67/68 based on my little bit of experience with my 67 Fastback there are a couple of combo's with the following notes:

17x8 with 4.75" backspacing and 275/40/17 not recommended by tire manufacturers but I ran this combo with no issues - will note noticeable tire bulge. Stock Rear end width, depending on your car's fit and spacing may have to trim fender lips

17x9.5 with 5.75" backspacing and 275/40/17 tire will fit square on the rim, backspacing is approx and should be measured to fit each car as everyone's car seems to vary quite a bit... also there can be variance from side to side, so make sure you check!

On my car I'm running a 18x10 with a 295/35/18 minimal tire bulge, car will be minitubbed, however can still run stock interior panels. air ride 4 bar in the back, trimmed fender lips. Room to go with a bit of a bigger tire and rim combo, probably a 315 on an 11" wheel. I'm having a dutchman narrowed rear end so that I could achieve a deep dish wheel - backspacing is 4.75" on my rears....

Hopefully this helps!
If you have any other q's send me a message, I've spent the better part of the last two years researching different tire sizes/wheel combo's . There really isn't much out there for mustangs like the camaros

Good Luck

Tom

ohhh, probably the biggest and most important part, is how low you want to go with the car, that will affect your tire combo as well in terms of trying to push the envelope on tire size.

Also, a 295/35/18 on my car looks huge, I would say max on a 67/8 a 315 would look comparable to the 335/345's the guys run on the first gen camaros

The lower front is the closest part. I used a BFH to make a little more room

Before (about a fingers width, maybe 3/4-1")
