On a second gen trans-am and still be able to get around. I'm looking at 2" drop spindles and hotchkis springs for the front and their leafs with drop blocks but that would around 4" of drop :jawdrop: Would that be too much? Ideally in a situation like this air would prevail but i'm on a tight budget and want a killer stance.
Would like to add, I am going with at least an 18" rim, at most a 20" rim. Width between an 8" or 9"

Good luck. My 75 TA had the Hotchkis TVS setup. There is no way I could get away with 4" of drop. My exhaust would be on the ground. Depending on how large your exhaust is, you might get away with 3". Look at my link below. In about 3 weeks I will have my TA back from Heidts and I will have 18's and about 2.5" drop. I will post pics.

first, i don't like how blocks work...they just always make me feel uncomfortable. It puts a lot of strain on the u-bolts...
second, I'm on air, and can thus set to pretty much any drop I want (I can even get to about an inch above stock). Anything below 2-3 inches, I hope you plan to only drive on completely flat roads.

I guess the only way to go is air. Do they ever have specials? How does it ride with air?

however you want it to. independently adjustable for ride firmness, height, compression, rebound. I keep it set for brisk cruising, so it's firm but not harsh and body motion is well-controlled, but I can crank things up in about 5 minutes to be track ready or back them off for highway cruising.
