So, it's time to replace my front tires. Currently, I'm running 245/40r18's on a 8 inch wide rim in the front, and 275/40r18's on 9 inch rims in the rear. Obviously, the sidewall height is taller in the back, giving the car that much more rake. I'm toying with the idea of changing the fronts to a 245/45r18, which will give me about half an inch taller tire (1/4 inch top & bottom), resulting in matching sidewall heights front & rear.

So...big & littles or same size sidewalls?

I prefer same size sidewalls myself. Just seems to fill the wheel gaps better, too.

I'll second that, same size sidewalls.

I like to see at least an inch difference in sidewall height front to rear. The rear of these cars need a taller tire in the rear to look right. A 245/45/18 can look out of place and can give the appearance of the front wheel being larger than the rear. Just my opinion.

245 / 45 / 18 and 285 / 40 / 18. Rides killer! Handles excellent.

I think the main question is, What looks better to YOU?

Personally, I am like Justin, the same sidewall height from front to rear is not for me, I like to see muscle cars sit like a "muscle car", and have some difference in sidewall height from front to rear. Frank has posted a good example of how I wouldn't do it personally, but to each their own, and if that is what his customer wanted, then he certainly gave it to them. I'm not going to lie, I've had customers ask us to do the same thing, and if I couldn't talk them out of it, we certainly sold them what they wanted, but I've had many of them call after the fact and say they wished they listened to us. Again, to each their own.

Here's a photo of MuscleCarJohn's Chevelle we set up with 18x9s and 18x10s and 275/35/18s and 305/35/18s, which is a 1" difference from the front to rear tire. We've also gone as far as 275/35/18 fronts and 305/40/18 rears, which when lowered looks bitchin:

I think it depends on the look you are going for, for a vintage muscle car look I like a little stagger ( I agree with 1 "), for a true performance look (pro-tour) I like same height but that's just my opinion, also why I will use same height on the apollo, but would like to stagger my GS. I know how you feel :hand:currently trying to decide tire and wheel size for it.
