I am in the market to buy some new wheels/tires for my 1988 monte carlo ss. Here are the sizes I am looking for

18x8.5 with 4.75"bs
18x10 with 5.75"bs

Tires are BFG KDW 2's (new tread pattern)
255/35/18
295/35/18

I was going to go ahead and buy a complete set of CCW Classics with the anodized black centers. They have the wheels and tires mounted and blanced with lug nuts...shipped to my door for $3500. I was going to order these April 1 with a turn around time of 3 weeks.

Then I thought it might be a good idea to post this up to see if anyone can show me what they have available in that price range. I am looking for either a "mesh" type wheel or a 10 spoke with black or brushed centers, polished lip. I really like the HRE's that are on the Fuel camaro for example.

Let the games begin.........

Thank you for the post.

I have narrowed the choice down between two wheels:

CCW Classic's with the anodized black centers
or
Rushforth Rated X's with either a brushed center or a semi gloss black powdercoated center.

The big difference in these wheels is that the CCW's have a stepped lip and the Rushforths have a rolled/soft lip. I can't decide!!!

man,... with those choices you cant lose.

for sheer badass.. i say CCWs..

for alittle more moderny protouring.. the rushforths.

but i think on YOUR car i would say the CCWs.. im tellin ya.

no, a guy has 275's under the front of his but we have different suspensions. I am going the 255 route for now and depending on how it handles and fits I might upgrade later.

Since I wanted a one-piece forged wheel, CCW model C14 was a no-brainer for the money. 18x9.5 up front with a 265/35-18 and 315's out back once I get the quadra-link in.

My only complaint is the anodizing picks up a bit of blue under fluorescent light, but it looks titanium under daylight -- If I had to do it over I would have went with a different anodize color or finish.

What do those look like in the daylight? That is what matters, it looks like a cool color.

Like I said, it looks much more like a titanium in warmer light. If I wasn't planning on painting the car blue it wouldn't even be an issue.

I bought my wheels through Prodigy/GP Superstores and got a smoking deal. Would definitely do business with them again. And I know they sell Rushforths.

Those CCW C14 wheels look great!! A lil too busy for my tastes on an old car. But they are some great looking wheels. JR

I love the classics, its probably the route I'll go when its time to change wheels. Either CCWs or Bogarts, im a fan of the all business school of thought.

I'm having a set of CCW classics made right now for my '69 Camaro.(brushed black centers, 17x9 & 17x11) On my way to the 12 Hours Of Sebring I stopped by their facility in Daytona. They just moved into a bigger building and were still getting things sorted out. I gotta say, they are a great bunch of people, and the quality of work is top notch. I'm anxiously waiting their arrival. With all this buzz I hope they don't get too popular, we all want to stand out, right?

Hate you say it, the bad side of going with CCW's is they are everywhere,Viper guys use them, Vette guys use them, Supra guys use them , 6-7 out of 10 Supras run CCW's:yeah: Just sayin...

i think guys forget that we (pt) are a small segment of a huge industry. i go to shows all the time and am never overwhelmed by any wheel but the TTII's. rushforth's and ccw's cant be grouped into the same category. in fact, i can count on one hand the number of cars ive seen in person with rushforths. they are sweet wheels, but probably sell as many wheels in one month as AMR sells in one day.

your area may be different.

very true about the TT2's! I have them on my car now but I bought them back in 1998 just as they were coming out. I remember seeing them in Summit for the first time and I was like...those will be mine!!

Alot of people in my area have billet specialties wheels.

That may be true on the street, but drag the car to an autocross or two and every other corvette will be wearing those shoes with hoosiers mounted up.

Then you get tire envy and start researching what you need to stuff 3XXmm tires up front...

But theyre fairly light, strong, no rediculous wait time, look great and as far as ive heard have excellent customer service. I just have to save for some 18x10.5s...It'll be a while.

update:

ordered the package on 4/1/2010

I talked to John who turns out to be the owner of CCW. We talked a great deal about wheel/tire fitament. So now I am getting...

18x9
18x10.5

This should be much better than what I originally wanted.

Hmmm, I'm just going to have to follow this thread, I assume you are considering a mini tub in the back?,
and then squeeze some huge meats on those....(?)

What size tires are you thinking of?
265 front, 295 rear? I did not see any 305 from KDW-NT, only 335s... (?)

The rear has a frame notch and If I need to actually do a mini-tub then I will...not a big deal. I had 315/35/17's on it before with the notch.

Front: 255/35/18
Rear: 295/35/18

well I got my wheels in the other day. Wheels and tires look great! I ordered a set of polished center caps and a set of anodized aluminum center caps. The ones they sent did not fit the front b/c of the protruding hub and they told me they were going to ship out the correct set that day. Well I got them in today and guess what...they shipped out the wrong ones again.

Now all I am saying is that if you spent TONS OF MONEY on a set of wheels...wouldn't you expect everything to be correct the first time...maybe the second try...but not the THIRD TRY?? sorry but I needed to vent
