Hey guys, kinda new to the site. Ive been gandering a bunch and figure'd i'd post up our recent project.

Were a fresh starting business with 2 23 year old guys wanting to do something good! both went to the good ol' Wyotech, street rod/coll. ref./trim and upholstery.

we put together a small 30x30 shop to start out in, and so far, its not bad. weve had 2 complete interior jobs in and out, a bunch of small stuff, a start on a 38' ford business coupe, and now a 67' chevy II post.

this car is a pretty extensive restoration, solid where it counts, but still a bit of rust. the guy bought it from GA originally thinking it would be a quick job, but everyone knows how those turn out.

plans, make an SS clone, (as far as interior and badging goes,) tremec 5 speed, 420+ cubic inches, TCI front and rear suspension, and just a badass old muscle car with good handling, driveability, A/C, power steering and disc brakes around, and looks. it sure wont be an *ironworks* car (hopefully someday), but fun none the less...

heres a start.!

thanks guys,.. ill definetally be taking lots a pictures for this one, seeing how its our first big job. should be fun.

after showing the guy about 100 pictures of different novas/chevyII's, and with an abundance of pro-tour'd look ones, he leaned more tward the type in the picture below.. which is alright by me by all means!

the guy has 2 pulling tractors which he won the outlaw points this last year, and the car will be the same color as his tractor..

he did like the idea of the widest rear tires we could fit under it, and with it needing work on the tubs, we just figure'd well go with DSE's deep tubs. This way, we can fit a 315 under there.

heres a couple more shots during the teardown.

floors gone. bad. gotta love the makeshift 4 speed hole.

they had 1/8th inch aluminum sheets laying over all the holes under the carpet. so it was indeed solid then. :machine:

got about an inch by inch patch in the trunk pan, but other than that, its pretty solid.

the motor is a 010 block, with a street dominator and a v/s 750. M20 4 speed, and a MSD 6al mounted with one bolt. hahaha someone really wanted to go fast on a budget.

Another day with the teardown, about finished ripping things off besides the tubs. Gotta pick up a welding bottle tomorrow then ill get started on the patch panels/rust repair.

TCI's suspension is going to be here tomorrow, so ill be sure to snap some shots of the goods!

DSE tubs are ordered and on the way.

Trying to get hooked up with a rotisserie for blasting/painting the underside. Anyone have any suggestions? Were kinda looking towards the Auto-Twirler.

Welp, got some rust repair in the making. The two front lower pillar spots, we have to wait untill we get the new cowl sides to see where to rebuild the pinch weld to.

Got some parts pictures for ya as well. Threw the front suspension together to make sure everything works / and that everything is there. We just had to run a tap into the A-arm sway bar endlink holes.

Got all the rear suspension parts as well. We will be going with a 9" rear, and will be centering the pinion.

Right twards lunch today we got DSE's deep tubs in as well. Checked out the video and it seems pretty self explanitory. The kit comes with templates and everything is a real clean/factory looking installation.

The only thing were wondering as of yet, is how the TCI 4 link is going to fit under there with the deep tubs. Anyone else know/seen? I guess well find out!

enjoy!!

Our 4-link will need just one small modifcation to work with the DSE tubs. The outer/upper lip of the coilover crossmember will need to be modified to fit the newly reshaped frame rail. Everything else will work perfect as supplied.

If you have any questions just give me a call, my direct line is in my sig.

The dse minitubs are great fit perfect. The Tci stuff was top notch.
If i might suggest you need to look at your end goal on ride height we ended up moving the shock mount into the trunk to drop it down(way to tall otherwise).I dont remember what kit we got it was a bolt in 4link/coil overs. Best of luck with the buisness/build.

Awesome! Thanks for posting that picture, and thanks for the good luck rich!

What size are those wheels/tires?

As far as wheels/tires go, were looking at the good ol' American Racing Torque Thrust II's. Trying to get 17's but well see if the guy wants to go that big. Hoping to get a 17x11 in the rear with as much of a dish we can get. I know he doesn't like the slammed ride height, so well see how low he wants to go.

Heres a few more pictures for you guys. The car is currently getting blasted.

We got it just about all the way blasted, the guy is coming back this next weekend to get it finished. We found out it needs the other front fender, a passenger door skin, and both rocker skins. The rear tail pan was shot, so 140 spot welds later, we got that out. The drivers tail light area is all pinholed and a couple good size rust holes, so that'll be replaced.

Just about finished up with the rust repair on the front half of the car. The next step, install the floor once the firewall gets here, do the DSE tubs, and install the new rear sheetmetal and rockers, then give it a soapy bath and prime it! Sure seems to be comin along quickly.

Question.. What have you guys done for the rear trim molding little studs that go around the back window pinch weld? We had to replace about 90% of it, and not too sure of what to do for them studs. I see they have some rivet on ones and some weld one ones. Just kinda curious if you guys have seen/done anything for these?

TCI guys, maybe you can help here. Just noticed, the front cross member for the rear 4 link, is about 1/4 inch short. Is this a common thing or has it happened before? just kinda curious, no big deal and its probably something with the car. We could just cut it at the center of the driveshaft loop and reweld.

I have seen rails a little bit off both directions(too wide and too skinny) but that is probably more than a come-a-long will correct. I had another car recently that had rails that were also too wide but he was able to pull them together fairly easily.

Got a lot more little stuff done. Always seems like nothing is getting done though.

The rear tail pan is in and welded. Had to do alot of fitting/adjustment for the taillights to mount flush all the way around. Also got the trunk gaps about perfected all the way around.

New door skin put on, along with some rust repair needed on the inner shell.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/04/01412-1.jpg

Both wheel wells are cut out and welded ready for the tubs. I just finished the drivers side today, and moved on to the rocker. Should have that in and done tomorrow,

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/04/038-2.jpg

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/04/0401-2.jpg

Passenger side needs to be finish welded, last fit, then finish that tub/rocker.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/04/0294-1.jpg

I looked again and I was mistaken, he is just selling upgraded shocks for a coil spring setup.

You will need to either modify the existing control arms or replace them. I can get you some detailed pics of how ours look if you decide to go that route.

Well body work is about done for the most part. Hoping it will stay nice for tomorrow so we can get the car in one color.

As far as undercoating goes, thanks to Rusty428cj, he suggested some stuff that we will probably give a shot.

www.southernpolyurethanes.com

Heres the look, and your supposed to be able to paint right over top of it, but that might not be nessesary.

Anyone else have any good undercoating systems that you know of?

Oh, and Jason, we got that crossmember shipped off. Did you end up finding any snapshots of how those bottom a-arms look? Probably just cut out the centers.

Here are a couple shots of an arm that was getting ready to be packaged and shipped. I can get you the flat plates without vertical coilover tabs welded on for $50(pair). That way you can set ride height.

Holy wow. Well, I'm sorry for the WAY long overdue update. I'll throw up some more pictures of the nova up to date this weekend.

First off, thanks guys for keeping tabs! Lets us know that someone is watching.

The project ended going on halt till the end of fall(ish). TRACTOR PULLING SEASON!

BTW, this car belongs to Brian Deck, driver of "One Bad Apple" in the Super farm class. so if any of you watch tractor pulling events, keep your eye out.

We did get all of the metal work finished, and in primer, and it's looking good as ever!. Now it's just sitting sideways against the wall.

Now were keeping our hands dirty working on a pretty radical 38' ford business coupe, and going over the body fixing gaps/cracks on 80' vette thats going black, so were gonna get her as strait as possible!

the roof had a few hail dents we pounded out, and then we sprayed it in primer.

and here she be as of now.

Well, its about that time again. Sorry for the long update, havent gotten too much else done with the '38 in the shop. We got the 38' into primer so were holding off on that for a while so we can get this done by summer. We just started on this again on monday, ordering away on parts were needing.

15 or 18 circuit painless wiring kit, full vintage air A/c kit with different compressor, and all new chrome. We did choose the wheels, which are Billet Specialties street lights. 15x10 3.5bs for the rears, and we just found out that BFGoodrich discontinued their 295/50/15. as far as the fronts go, what have some of you seen for a 15x6 or 7 and what backspacing? Were trying to get a bit of a "drag" look to it.

Welded on the cowls, took apart all the door hinges for a much needed rebuild, modified the rear seat back to clear the tubs, got the front clip finally bolted on, and the lower control arms, shocks/springs, are being sent off for coilovers. fit a spare 295/50/15 on a 10" rim to make sure it would fit, and theres about an inch of room all around still with uncut and un-rolled wheel lips, so thats the way were going to go, only if we find a good tire in that size.

Wheels and tires in. Billet Specialties, 15x10 3.5 BS, 15x4. ended up going with MT's SR radials seeing how we couldnt find anyone who made matching sets of front and rear tires with the backs being 12ish inches wide. 26x12x15 rears. plenty of rubbing room.

It's funny the two projects you are presently working on are the exact two cars I lost in a previous divorce... :here!:

Thanks Bryce.

Wicked, thanks, and yeah, I want it lower too. We just mocked them up to get a width measurement for the housing to get sent off. We'll see how low we can get it to look good when we get it bolted under there. (still wish we could have done 17's!!!!!!)

And Ray, thats pretty sweet! I have just as many pictures of the work on the 38 that I do this. We just (hopefully) final primed it this last weekend. LOTS of metal work done. 1 pc grill, which I'm the most proud of, theres probably 80+ hours in just that. Even the top 15 or so grille pieces were cut off and pie cutted just to get the right contour. It will be a LONG time before ill be willing to do another one of those. haha. GET YOUR BUG DONE! haha I love that thing. Its crazy builds like that, that keep my mind churning and dreaming. now i just need someone with deep pockets, or a winning lotto ticket!!

Im hoping after we get the '38 done, i can pick up a friends 63 duce. Its already been 80% restored to original (6 banger) . TCI clip, DSE tubs, 4 link, and a LQ4! yes please!

Heres a few shots of the '38.

Got the rear end back. 4 link is in and modified. The only thing we had to do, was drill out the very passenger hole in the panhard bar bracket, then we just moved it over a set of holes, then shortened the panhard bar. Pretty sweet!

Vintage Air sent us their AC sure fit kit. We opted for a bit of a cleaner look, so we welded in the plate instead of bolting. Now we just need to get a new hardline made. The one we have is for the original front stub, and it sticks out too far.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Also, we got the motor in. 406, Hyd. Roller, 533hp. ported pro comp heads, port matched victor JR. intake. For the front runner, we went with the full March Performance pulley setup. Super nice setup being that everything is mounted really low. We had to get the different smaller AC compressor for this kit.

Radiator is AFCO from Speedway motors, also a very nice piece, and for fans, were using two 10" jegs slim fans.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

also, if anyone else is using this TCI 4 link kit, what are you doing for a full exhaust? About the only way we can see it possible, is to route the deal exaust underneath the pumpkin beings a dual 3" exaust doesnt look to fit well with breathing room between the coilovers above the axle.

Glad to see progress! All of your builds are looking good I especially like the nova. I am building a similar 63 II only with the TCI 3 link rear. Anyway keep the updates coming and glad to see that business is good.

Thanks Draginutz,

The "pre" wiring is mostly done. Were re-routing alot of the wiring to "hide" alot more than the painless kit calls for. Now its time to rip it back out and plug the unused holes. After all that, its off to final prime, back to the shop, then we will be spraying the undercoating on it. From the sounds of it, we will most likely be going with Second Skin sprayon for the bottom, and the "dynomat" style stick on, on the top. That should make for a pretty quiet ride.

J@tci, do you have any full exhaust pictures with your 4 link kit? Or do you know of any kits that work with your guys kit? We planned on doing the simple cutout like that on the crossmember, but it just looks like it will get tight between the gas tank and the panhard bar/coilover bracket.

Our shop car still has the exhaust dumped at the axle so I don't have any pics here. However, both the Camaro and Mustang have over axle exhaust using the same panhard bar and a big tank.
