I have been reading a few build threads here tonight and in a couple there have been some really nice sponsorship from a bunch of the aftermarket companies. My question to you all is, how are you going about getting this sponsorship? I can't imagine it's just cold calling these companies. Do you have to have a pro shop building you a 6 figure car??
I am not looking for it myself, really it's just curiousity. I can't be the only one here wondering this.
Thanks,
Glenn

I had a limited sponsorship from FocusSport for my now totaled 02 Focus wagon. it was parts at a discount.
I just wrote them a letter stating what I was building, what my plans where, Etc.
For god's sake don't use one of those rip off internet sites that you pay them to find you sponsors, the are a scam. I remember finding an article on line that discusses how to find a sponsor.

here we go again..
Basics Of Sponsorship from what I can see
1) Funds/Resources to Complete project within a time frame:
Anyone who states that they lack funds or resources to complete their car will immediately be passed over, without Funds/Resources they would not be able to meet their end of the bargain.
2) Product Exposure must be Guaranteed:
Manufacturer will provide product. The builder must be able to show that the exposure is secured (a show schedule that must be followed I.E. the complete super chevy circuit) Builder supplies Funds and transportation (Truck/trailer/Funds/time)
3) Exposure is Significant:
Manufacturers get requests every day. Everybody wants something for free. There's a fixed allotment of "free" parts. We pick and choose the best projects. Projects with maximum exposure and the best guarantee of exposure.
4) Project must be unique and stand out:
The plan must be clear, specific, exciting and guaranteed. not another lowered, stock looking camaro atomic orange, with carbon fiber hood and tube arms (seen 1000's of them) whats special about yours
some how a 1500 dollar EFI system just seems easier to buy then beg for :hmm: or you can just start your own company, That may be CHEAPER!

here we go again..
I am not trying to stir the pot here. I was just really curious. My build is a back yard home built car. And I want it to be something that I do on my own with no help.
My only sponsor is my wife!!
