OK ..... Im on vacation, ain't going nowhere, it was a nice day today , got bored and tried to create something that I had a idea on  during the winter.
On my Buick Regal...... I call it "THE DOWNFORCE G WING".... No not something new just my version on what's been done before except it's on G Body. Kinda going for the NASCAR,RoadRacer,Streetfighter,SCCA look.
It's in its mock up stage.........

I'm looking for inputs, opinions or thoughts, from ones you made these before, like the "Street Fighter Spoiler" owners, and ones similar to that.
Like will one line of holes in the top of the trunk lid hold it or will two line be needed?
The gasket or sealant or pad used between the wing a spoiler to protect the finish and to keep the weather out, what was used.
A local shop owner has agreed to help me bring this to reality, buy donating his shop and equipment and his time and he works with aluminum, so the thats a plus.
After a few hours of scketching out designs, we came up with few, we both liked, but this design, I like the most.
It would be made of either .09" or 1/8" Aluminum, and hinged with a 2" piano hinge, most of all the brackets will be made at the shop using scrap, so this is a kinda freebie to me, just gotta pay for the bigger pieces used.
6" in Height, maybe a bit higher after hinge is added, with 37 degree laydown.
Well let me know what ya think.....

i have never been a fan of ricer fluff on a street car. now if it is on a track and makes a difference then go for it.

Looks good.

Just an observation, but the way the turn buckels are currently placed you will not have much adjustment. I would move all of them to within about an inch of the bottom of the trunk lid.

i like it. are you going to polish the aluminum, paint it body color or brush it? either way i think it looks good.

Coming from another G-body owner, six inches seems a might high. I think 4" would do just fine. I dig the look and I think it will look good on the Regal.

Its not ricer fluff imo, brushed aluminum about four inches would look good.

Thanks for the response guys, seen it done on other makes and models, and wanted that NACAR-ish look.
montessaj,vanzuuk1,Twentyover.... I based alot of the height on the following pics, NASCAR wings were tall in height but at a 37 degree laydown, as veiwed from straight behind the car , you can still see the whole rear window.

shep..... yea I know on the turn buckels they were tapped on just for the effect, I will be placing those near the ridge line just above the bottom of the trunk lip and scoot the the hinges down on the wing.
I'm gonna leave as is, the brushed aluminum look.

Ive built a few rear spoilers for Stockcars in the past.....I'd ditch the Piano Hinge.. It looks like crap.... how much adjusment do you need? You can get several degrees of adjustment with out them... I also wouldnt use Turn buckles.... I'd rather use these... http://www.racecity.biz/prod1.html You might be able to find some used ones...I would also paint it.... the glare is redeclious...

I don't think he plans on using turn buckles and he plans on using something like you posted, Those were just taped on there to give you the idea.
If you wouldn't use a piano hinge, what would you recomend using?
The front spoiler will actually be easier to make or have made than the rear.
Thanks for your input,

I plan on doing a similar setup for my Olds. My only issue is the ridge down the middle of the deck lid (top and back) so I have no actual flat surface to mount to. Making it adjustable will be a trick with keeping things from warping or binding.

I guess, I never realized how tall the Nascar ones were. I'd paint it black like the green car, with the adjust rods like the others suggested.

So what would you use for mounting it? I have been brainstorming and I have not thought of a better way yet.. But if you have a better Idea please share!
I actually like it long like it is. The NASCAR people could get away with a smaller one because they were ding over 180 mph. But if you wanted any usable benifit at lower speeds I would go with the height you have now.. And maybe consider a steeper angle too.

Thanks guys on the input, I do belive after looking at the wing for a while ....... yes the 6" height was a bit much.
So it got reduced 2", however with the hinge being 2", and half of it on the spoiler, it will be in height, of 5".
The pitch "dome" of the trunk was easy to figure out, once you see how it's done you go....oh.
I did two prototypes one with the supports as you seen, and a fixed wing similar to early 80's g-bodied NASCAR's. at 5" also with the V split and all, I like both..but leaning to the hinged one with the hardware and supports.
As for the supports Scot w. got it right... I am going to go to the Longacre style supports eventualy, there are a 3-4 families in my town that do roundy round racing and I heard thaey had lots of parts that are take offs and those style supports may among them.
How am I attaching it to the trunk lid?
Well right now using the existing spoiler bolt holes in a old GN trunk lid that I have, using it to test fit and mount, dont wanna drill one single hole in the current lid till I am happy.
Today Im am actually going to the shop to hopefully build it, or at least get it cut , trimmed, drilled, and bent to where I want it.
If there is enough left over I also going to make the fixed wing too.

Here's something similar I built for my autocross/HPDE car...
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/P1010009-1.jpg
Also, send it to me and we can make it look like carbon fiber!
This is a wing we did for a drag car...

It's a paint process.
