Anything that has ceramic in it will be the best. Fiberfrax is a blanket material I have used on furnaces and incinerators and comes with a foil if you want. It is very light and comes in many thicknesses of insulation and foil but can be a bit messy when removing and replacing because it tends to lose some fibers.

The ceramic refractory type mud works well too but is also a pain to install. But it really works the best.

The ceramic cloth that is woven and foil faced would seem to be what you are looking for and the easiest to work with.

I did get fair heat reduction from my damplifier from 2nd skin but I am thinking you will need more than that. You could however use it on both sides and get the reflective action of the aluminum to help.

ANT will probably chime in here, but Damplifier Pro is a bit better performing according to the specs than Dynamat Extreme - but neither is really a heat barrier. It does provide some help in that area, but it's not it's primary purpose IIRC. Luxury Liner does work in that area, but it's kind of thick and heavy and may not suit your purposes. Not sure.

Secondskin has a new product out just for that purpose. It's a self adhesive, 1/4" thick thermal barrier call Thermal Block, check it out on their website. http://www.secondskinaudio.com/viewproduct.php?id_product=355#tab3 the 6 sq. foot panel weighs 1 pound.

What about the Lizard Skin ceramic coating? They have a video on their website showing a electric grill that they've coated 1/2 of the cooking surface, which is cool to the touch, and the other half is cooking eggs.

I've never used it, but it looks impressive.
